King-ly Views

The client's request: A focus on art, and a need to blend a number of custom and heirloom pieces into the space. The look needed to be contemporary overall, but warm, cozy, and approachable.

Our solution: The space had been fitted with a much darker palette, and to make it more contemporary and give us the backdrop for the multitude of colors in the artwork, we chose to lighten everything and bring the bright, airy views inside. In order to enhance the extensive art collection the client already owned, we commissioned artists for lighting and furniture and added a few contemporary pieces to melt into the existing antiques the client cherished. We used both the colors of the views outside and those that overlapped within the artwork to create a sense of harmony between the many things that would catch the eye in this small but personality-filled space. The final result was a modern, organic feel that allowed old and new to harmonize and the artwork to be a focus, but also a part of the conversation in this oceanside property.
