Workshop/APD designed this refined and luxurious weekend home for a stylish, easygoing couple and their three children. The collaborative process created a modern family retreat that would house the couple and their three children while tailoring to the client’s chic and easy style. Inspired by the home’s extraordinary site and the Stone Barns at the former Rockefeller estate in Pocantico Hills, NY Workshop/APD principal Andrew Kotchen designed this modern lake house to meld old world opulence with a subtle elegance. The firm set the property on a stone base among the trees overlooking the lake, providing a commanding water view and effortlessly integrating the outdoors with its interiors. Materials and furnishings were chosen to infuse the house with a natural richness. Glass, wood, stone, natural fibers and leather create a clean, fresh, classic atmosphere that is durable enough to suit the needs of a family of five . A home gym, spa, and recreation lounge create a luxurious, relaxing retreat.
