For a family looking to shed the vestiges of a traditional home full of dark woods and antiques by going modern, Annette English & Associates offered them a fresh start, by creating open-air, light, contemporary interiors in a home that they built steps from the ocean in Manhattan Beach. The entrance landing sets the stage for the clients’ newfound love of contemporary art with a life-size glass and resin sculpture of and by artist Daniel Arsham holding an imaginary camera, which the family named “our paparazzi”, while up above is a canvas of clouds and an 8-foot-tall Ochre chandelier raining drops of glass. English and her team designed three floors of nonstop “wow” moments, creating an electric mix of unique lighting, rich textures, distinctive furniture and stunning art with all of the comforts of home. All combined, they make for a home that exceeded the clients’ dreams.
