Midtown Apartment

For this apartment combination in Midtown Manhattan, we created an open and cohesive environment from what had been a series of enclosed rooms divided between two separate apartments. The clients, avid book collectors, needed space for a growing stock of books and art objects, so a custom-designed bookshelf creates a spine through the apartment, linking different areas of their home and providing needed space for storage and display. Within this open environment, for which we provided full architectural and interior design services, we created different vignettes, each tailored to the family’s interests: dining and cooking, entertaining, private study, music rehearsal, and space for a growing family. A series of custom screens allows them to partition the space in different ways.
