Apartment by Meyer Davis in New York, NY

From "Made to Measure" - Gray and Chase chose an apartment in a mid-century Greenwich Village building because it had some intact prewar character that they could tailor to their masculine sensibility. They meticulously renovated and decorated their home in a manner that gives it the cultivated air of an updated gentlemen's club. Although they spend most weekends with houseguests in the country, they like to entertain in the city too, so they furnished the living room with comfy overscale pieces - two deep clubs chairs upholstered in horsehair-trimmed with leather piping and a wall-length sofa that can seat six. Gray borrowed one of his favorite ideas from restaurant projects and designed a semicircular banquette that follows the contours of the dining room's curved walls. The bowed shelf behind it hold art and books, giving the space the feel of a modern library where Chase likes to work on his laptop. They wanted the walls to reflect light and gleam night and day, so they lacquered them in Farrow & Ball's Skylight, which is one of those magical blues that morph along with the seasons. Like all of their homes, the apartment has a collected quality that reflects their long history together.
