Montecito Residence

Rios Clementi Hale Studios provided interior design and landscape design services for this Barton Myers-designed home located on a 1-acre lot in the hills of Santa Barbara. A steep ravine cuts off the property to the east, ending in a creek that provided some of the raw materials for the landscape - incredible sandstone boulders that were strategically placed around the site. With the house reflecting the true indoor-outdoor lifestyle of the couple, the interior furnishings and the landscape responds more than adequately. All the main living spaces, the kitchen, bedrooms and bathrooms and halls connect to the outdoors. Japanese influenced courtyards break up the main sections of the home and accent the warmly elegant interior finishes. A kitchen vegetable garden, outdoor dining spaces, pool terraces and small courtyards create individual spaces that link together and enable group gatherings and private retreats.
