One Madison Residence

This family home resides in a desirable glass tower that overlooks Madison Square Park. For this apartment, DHD Interiors created a design that quietly complements the vibrant views. For the living room, DHD employed a soft palette and kept furniture profiles low to not compete with the panoramic views. Shades of gray and blue wash the space in subtle color, harmonizing with the concrete monoliths and sky outside. Contemporary pieces mix with a few mid-century accents, for a look that is carefully considered and curated. A bronze and velvet neutral-hued sectional anchors the living room, creating a cozy, conversational area, while a statement-making console by Patrick Naggar for Ralph Pucci features a whimsical illuminated circle motif that casts a golden glow and adds an element of fun. In the dining room, a Lindsey Adelman chandelier hangs over a round table with playfully off-kilter legs, designed by Jean-Paul Tortil. Nearby, a custom bar cabinet in bronze and shagreen completes the dining area. Beyond the dining room, you’ll find the master suite, a model of subdued luxury. A custom-dyed leather headboard perfectly matches an eggplant-hued bench at the foot of the bed. Mirrored nightstands are topped with classic ball lamps, lending the room a dose of Old Hollywood glamour. A fluffy circular rug made of Icelandic sheep hide throws the room a curve, and provides a soft surface underfoot. Nearby, the marble-clad master bath has the sanctuary-like feeling of a spa. The freestanding sculptural tub is the ideal spot to literally soak in the scenery, an up-close view of the Madison Square Clock tower. At the opposite end of the apartment is a quiet corner designed as a man-cave-style retreat. For a hit of color, a burnt orange velvet chaise by Willian Haines. Custom draperies soften the floor-to-ceiling windows and provide privacy at a moment’s notice—something any New Yorker would appreciate.
