ORIENT FARMHOUSE
Country House by General Assembly in Orient, NY
An early 1900s farmhouse in the historic village of Orient on the North Fork of Long Island designed as a year-round getaway for a Manhattan-based family of four. General Assembly has uncovered a sense of history and charm that had gradually been stripped away through a series of interventions and additions over the past century, preserving the home’s history while creating a contemporary space for their clients. The home’s intimate proportions and distinct living spaces are balanced by a layout that suits the needs of its inhabitants. A casual sense of ease and comfort pervades all its spaces.
