Paris Pied-a-terre
Le Marais, arguably Paris’ most unique and oldest neighbourhood, brims with an effervescent history, intertwined with a bohemian eccentricity. The brief was clear – create a comfortable space in this just over 300sf pied-a-terre for out-of-town friends and family of the owner to stay while visiting Paris.
The first step was an overhaul of the floorplan, re-allocating the space from four rooms to three rooms and taking out the sitting room, since most people hang out in the kitchen these days. In lieu of a sitting room, a sofa was introduced in the bedroom, while the kitchen was opened up to include a place to gather around the kitchen island and share the adventures of the day.
A bold colour approach of black and shades of grey, was offset with the single colour – viridian, which was counterbalanced with the introduction of botanical prints, florals, succulent plants, whilst to juxtapose those hard colours, a myriad of textures and pops of local flea market chic were introduced.
