Sky Farm

Country House by Meyer Davis in Copake Falls, NY

Inspired by California's Case Study houses and East Coast examples of mid-century architecture, Will Meyer designed a residence that reduces modernism to its essence. The house is diagrammatically straightforward, with all four bedrooms located off a spine that runs the length of the house and a central living space with the openness and sweep of a loft. A flying white frame on the exterior emphasizes the rigorous geometry of the minimalist design, and a stone buttress on the deck is a sculptural element that serves both as a place to stack firewood and as a privacy screen for the master suite. This is a fine-tuned machine for living that functions as an easygoing retreat.
