South Grove House

Known for her award-winning design as the founder and Principal of Assure Interiors in Coral Gables, Florida, Carola Pimentel’s own home is as stylish as it is practical. For the dynamic professional and mother of two teenage sons, her family’s personal aesthetic resonates throughout the home. The rather basic original interior required creative upgrading to accommodate her busy social life while enhancing family time and adding functionality.

Small rooms were opened up to create a more spacious layout making better use of the existing square footage. Delivering generous wall space was also key in order to display the Carola’s growing contemporary art collection.

“Overall, the original rooms felt dark, and the lighting needed to be upgraded to include proper lighting schemes in spaces which mostly only had surface mounted fixtures.” mentions Carola. Throughout the property floors and surfaces were upgraded to inject a feeling of lightness.

Carola opted for a restful and neutral color palette deploying a considered use of hues ranging from blush pink in the living room to light taupe and complex variations of white in more private spaces.

Across the different rooms, natural materials, an Assure signature, include linen, cotton, warm leather and tactile wood. These were carefully balanced with iron as well as polished cement, lacquer and glass which achieved added sophistication and kept the house feeling modern.
