Southampton

Vacation Home by Area Interior Design in Southampton, NY

The goal for this Southampton project was to create a true respite from city life - a home that immediately felt calming, effortless, and light-filled. The house has incredible natural light, so AREA Interior Design leaned into that quality with lime-washed walls, pale oak floors, and a palette that’s intentionally breezy and tonal.

Everything was chosen to feel easy and unfussy, yet deeply considered. From custom furniture designed for comfort and flow to subtle textures that quietly elevate the experience of each space. Every design decision supported soft transitions between rooms, natural finishes, and a sense of ease.

The dining room is anchored by a custom triangular table - an intentional departure from the more typical round or rectangular shapes, and slightly unexpected, both sculptural and practical. The form allows for a flexible number of guests to gather comfortably, and it sets the tone for a room that feels quietly inventive. The chairs are also custom, designed to echo the simplicity and warmth of the table without competing with it. Above, a vintage Lunel fixture from France adds a note of elegant restraint, while French sconces flank the walls to softly extend the light and mood. The molded paper wallpaper adds subtle texture and helps layer the space without introducing any pattern, keeping the focus on form, materials, and mood.
