Upper East Side Residence

Apartment by Neal Beckstedt Studio in New York, NY

Located in a modern glass residential tower on the Upper East Side, this apartment decoration blends sophisticated uptown living with the ease and modernity associated with downtown living. With sweeping views of Manhattan in all directions, the apartment was staged for a developer to give prospective buyers an understanding of how to furnish the large open spaces. Keeping all the walls crisp white, the furnishings were also kept neutral and heavy textures were layered into the space to give the apartment much needed warmth and interest. Oversized vintage Moroccan rugs provide texture throughout, especially in the living room where the uniquely patterned rug transitions from an ivory to brown while unifying and defining the living space. Mid-century Danish classics, such as Arne Jacobsen's Egg and Womb chairs, are mixed with a vintage T.H. Robsjohns-Gibbings sofa, custom leather club chairs, and a vintage Stilnovo floor lamp which creates a fresh take on classic pieces. Grey linen drapery panels further help layer in texture and warmth while also defining the open spaces into intimate rooms.
