VENICE BUNGALOW
VENICE BUNGALOW
We were given the directive of turning a dated and dark venice beach bungalow into a space that felt, bright, airy without committing to a large construction scope. With our focus to inject a modern, beachy and youthful spirit into the home we first needed to address the existing finishes which consisted mostly of a yellowed raw pine which ran throughout the house in the floors, stairways, beamed ceiling and cabinetry. By updating the palette to walnut floors, white walls and forest green cabinetry the house immediately took on an airy feel. We also re-designed the fireplace working with the existing opening we created a sculptural white stucco centerpiece. We installed large French sliders of the living room to open the house up onto an exterior courtyard which not only brought in additional light but offered the sought after indoor/outdoor experience. The outdoor courtyard features a fountain wall with a hamamm drip faucet, twin iron daybeds and plenty of lush plants – giving the home beautiful views to the outside as well as private lounging space.
In the dining room a floating walnut banquette wraps two walls providing both cushioned seating and space to display art. We choose a warm pink for the walls and ceiling and filled the walls with artwork giving the room a ton of laid back venice beach vibe.
