Victorian Gem

Country House by Nadya Sawney Interiors in England, GB

A Victorian gem of a house in Ventnor Isle of Wight England. Located in one of 'the coolest post codes in the UK' this property sits high in the hills above Ventnor with stunning views of the English Channel.

The dining room is a large space perfect for entertaining. Before I could implement my design, maintenance work was required on the wall on one side of the fireplace, this involved removing the plasterboard down to the brickwork. The brickwork looked so good I asked the contractor to expose the bricks on the other side of the fireplace. I love how what starts off as what I call 'the unsexy' parts of a renovation can lead to a design that really works and supports the room.

I spent time sourcing wallpapers. I knew what I wanted and was happy in the fact it would show itself to me...and it did. This Ralph Lauren wallpaper is stunning and works beautifully with my Timothy Oulton dining chairs. Mixing patterns is one of my joys to do within interiors...chosen with feel this never fails to 'work'.

The Kitchen here is one of those rooms that has three different doors all leading to much needed areas. Rather than let that be a visual issue I sourced 'aged' tiles for the walls and floor that would enchance the space and bring one's attention to their design and subsequent contribution to the room's layout.
