Willow Grace Farm

Country House by G. P. Schafer Architect in Hudson Valley

The winner of a 2009 Palladio Award and an AIA Design Award, Willow Grace Farm is a 9,000 square foot new residence with accompanying outbuildings set on a picturesque, 350-acre horse farm in Upstate New York. A winding drive leads up to the main house, set on a wooded hilltop with sweeping views of the surrounding Catskill, Shawangunk Mountains and the Berkshires, revealed through the home’s many windows and French doors. The design of the main house was inspired by salvaged material from a nearby late 18th century farmhouse that was incorporated into the project. GPSA designed the exterior to reflect the Federal character of the original house, while new moldings, flooring, wall paneling, mantels and doors for the interior were rigorously detailed to match the original salvaged materials. GPSA collaborated with Deborah Nevins for the landscape design and Michael S. Smith for the interior decoration.
