Maxime Old Apparat Dining Table in Satin Sycamore & Brushed Oak

By Maxime Old

Located in Paris, FR

This dining table is a contemporary edition of the Apparat table, originally designed by the famous designer Maxime Old in 1956. It was made for the Salon du Palais of the Halle aux toiles in Rouen, and its central part opens to accommodate planters. The Anne Jacquemin Sablon gallery presents a contemporary edition of the Apparat table, characterized by its X-shaped brushed oak compass base and satin sycamore top. The tray is crafted with wood threads going in different directions to create a unique pattern. The satin finish of the top creates a polished effect, contrasting with the ribs of the brushed oak. Maxime Old (1910-1991) is one of the most important designers and interior architects of the 20th century. His work was highly appreciated and recognized from the 1930s to the 1980s. Starting in the 1960s, he became more interested in designing more global furniture while also considering his environment. As an interior designer, he was responsible for designing entire spaces, such as the Paquebot France...

The Beach in Normandy, France, Near Bayeux: A 19th C. Etching by Maxime Lalanne

By Maxime Lalanne

Located in Alamo, CA

This is a mid 19th century etching entitled "Point de Depart de Guillaume de Normandie, Beuzeval, Emboucher de la Dives Calvados (The point of departure of William of Normandy (William the Conqueror)), created by Maxime Lalanne and published in 'L'Illustration Nouvelle' in 1868 by Alfred Cadart. The etching depicts the beach at Beuzeval in Normandy; with the shore in the foreground on the right lined by a row of houses, the sea at the left, and an expansive sky above. There are people on the beach and sailboats in the water. This is the point of departure of William the Conqueror for his voyage to England in 1066, resulting in his victory over the Anglo-Saxons at the Battle of Hastings and the establishment of Norman rule. The events are memorialized in the Bayeux tapestry, created by William's wife. This etching is presented in a white mat that is suitable for framing. This excellent impression is printed on thick chain-linked, laid cream-colored paper with wide margins. It is signed in plate in the lower right and titled in the plate in the lower left. There is a collector's stamp (either an "NC" or a "CN") in the lower right corner. The sheet measures 9.5" high by 12.75" wide and the mat measures 13.5" high by 16" wide. There are two tiny faint spots in the periphery of the upper margin, but the print is otherwise in excellent condition. This etching is held by many museums and institutions, including The British Museum, The Yale University Art Gallery, The Cleveland Museum of Art, The Philadelphia Museum of Art, Columbia University Libraries and The William Morris Gallery...

Half Moon Pendant Light by Atelier George, Blown Glass & Brass, France
Half Moon Pendant Light by Atelier George, Blown Glass & Brass, France

Half Moon Pendant Light by Atelier George, Blown Glass & Brass, France

By Atelier George

Located in Paris, FR

This luminaire, conceptualized by Atelier George in 2020, is part of the Aube collection. This pendant light is inspired by the shape and surface of a half-moon, in opaline white glass, veined with grey and ivory. The luminaire is suspended by a brass stem whose height can be made to measure. The production lead time is 7 to 8 weeks. Several mounting options: hanging brass ring and rosette, hanging by the rosette, simple hanging by brass ring. E 14 bulb recommended. The two designers and glassblowers, Eve and Laurent, have been working together since 2012. Their work consists of editing glass tiles, lighting and decorative objects. Originally trained as a designer, Eve grew up and studied in Paris. After having completed a bachelor’s degree at the Boulle School and a cycle of graduate studies at ENSCI-Les Ateliers, she decided to learn various glass-making techniques. In particular, she chose glass blowing, in order to give a concrete form to some of his ideas. In June 2018, Eve George received the Prize for Young Art Creation, a French national award for young artisans. That same year, she was also a finalist for the Grand Prix de la Création (Paris, France) and the International Competition for Artistic Creation and Design (Milan, Italy). Her work has been featured in various contemporary glass exhibitions in France and Europe, as well as at Dubai Design Week and the Jeunes Marchands show at Sotheby’s Paris. The Anne Jacquemin Sablon gallery opened its doors to the public in 2015. It is a space dedicated to design and contemporary applied arts. It presents a collection of furniture, lighting, accessories and works of art. The gallery is located in a unique and historic space, initially a fashion boutique from the 1920’s. Today, renovated to accommodate artists, designers and interior architects, as it is a space that meets the art requirements and clients needs who have a particular interest in applied arts and contemporary design. Indeed, most of the pieces are designed by French architects such as Tristan Auer, Thierry Lemaire...
