Lapis 270 - white 3D abstract floral geometric ceramic wall composition
Located in New York, NY
Marie Laforey is a self-taught artist based in New York, US who maintains a sustainable art practice using primarily organic material. Laforey enjoys the tactility of working with organic mediums and learning how to craft preserved moss, clay, feathers and other natural elements into beautiful abstract compositions. Primarily inspired by nature, repetition, patterns, texture and geometry are essential elements that are omnipresent in her works. About Lapis and Flos series: Laforey recent ceramic works are unique pieces that alter in patterns to give an illusion of movement and depth by using clay’s potential for building sculptural dimension. The repetitive use of a unique element, the circle is centered to her work. The circle has often been associated with the female and to Mother Earth. It has no beginning and no end, it is the whole, the essence of things. It symbolizes the ongoing energy found in nature. Laforey’s Lapis mural ceramic series...

Antique rose glossy ceramic balloon sculpture handmade for wall, ceiling
Located in Tel Aviv, IL
This antique rose glossy ceramic balloon sculpture is a balloon for life and an art collectors piece. Its Vivid glossy color enhances sophisticated and cheerful space environment. handmade in the picturesque village Arsuf in Israel the balloon creates tension betwen ligtht vs. heavy, temporary vs. enterninty, fragilie vs. solid and more. The baloons can be installed individually as one balloon or in different combinations creating a unique installation for every space and making it an art tool for designers and architects as well as home owners. Harmony and grandeur characterize the work of Reli Smith and Osnat Yaffe Zimmerman in their artistic cooperation under the brand R+O Design. The goal in their work is to create a magical world of bright colors, along with pastels and monochromatic works of differing textures, which together form an aesthetic and “welcoming” tale. A surrealistic world is at the core of their design and art and this can be seen from ceramic sculptures of balloons, giant hearts, garlic heads made of gold, giant golden eggs as well as giant plates...

"4+4", sculpture, clay, ceramic, abstract, contemporary, tribal, disc, geometry
Located in Toronto, Ontario
4+4, a ceramic sculpture of high-fired clay pigmented with oxides, is a work by New York artist Harold Wortsman. Note the blending of geometric and organic forms in this work – it is characteristic of his practice – warm, contemporary, uniquely crafted, yet speaks to ancient, primitive traditions of art-making that cross cultures and histories. Highly attuned to the art of Africa, the Middle East, India and Asia, his forms are organic abstracts with masculine and feminine attributes that resonate together as a pleasing enigma. They make sense immediately, yet never give up all their secrets. From Harold Wortsman – "With sculpture, my material of choice is high-fired clay. Pieces are first low-fired in an electric kiln. I do not use glazes. Instead, I use oxides applied to the bisqued (low-fired) clay. As with a tattoo, oxides permit the surface underneath to breathe. The work is then high-fired in a gas kiln with double reduction to cone 10. The final temperature is 2,300 degrees F. At a certain point, oxygen intake is reduced to the kiln. Because the fire has reached a critical mass, it needs oxygen and chemically takes it from the clay and the oxides painted on. Like a jazz improvisation, each kiln load comes out slightly different." From Jonathan Goodman, Poet & Art Critic – "Wortsman re-examines ancient and modern traditions in light of what it means to make art." – Tussle Magazine, July 2019. Harold Wortsman is a sculptor and printmaker based in Brooklyn, NY. He “creates forms that bring to mind archaic cult objects and exude a quiet concentrated strength.” (Argauer Zeitung, Switzerland). His work, an edgy mix of freedom and clarity, can be found in public and private collections in the US, including The Library of Congress, Yale University, The New York Public Library Print Collection, The New York Historical Society, Smith College, Indiana University’s Lilly Library, Brandeis University, The Newark Public Library Special Collections Division, and the Jane Voorhees Zimmerli Art Museum Print Archive. Also in private and public collections in Europe, including the Municipal Collection of the City of Brugg, Switzerland. Monkey Head Natural Sisal Fiber Clay Sculpture Chimpanzee Anne Andersson Art
Located in Surfside, FL
Anne Andersson Sisal fiber wall sculpture Monkey Head (# 1) Hand signed to verso Dated 2009. Measures approx. 11" height x 10" width x 6 1/4" depth. Her sculptures are made of natural sisal Fiber from an agave and meticulously hand painted. The eyes are hand blown glass. Anne Andersson was born in Gothenburg, Sweden, with a great desire to explore Nature and a Passion for Art. She received a degree in science in 1981 from Kjällbergska University in Gothenburg and a degree in Art from the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale. She now works from her studio in St. Petersburg, Florida as a Sculptor, illustrator and painter. Her work calls to mind the animalia artworks of Henri Maik and Gustavo Novoa. Anne Andersson's artwork serves as an homage to our planet’s charismatic and rare wild animals. Inspired by the majesty and beauty of exotic wildlife, and motivated by an urge to preserve them, Anne’s astonishingly realistic life-size sculptures capture the experience of seeing these animals up close without exploiting them. Her sculpted work using natural materials and clay, provides a humane alternative to big game trophy hunting and taxidermy. She combines her talents in painting, tapestry weaving and illustration with an intuitive attention to the smallest detail to truly bring her sculptures to life. She has created lions, tigers, leopards, jaguars, cheetahs, bobcats, lynxes, pumas, panthers, elephants, rhinos, bears, water buffalo, bison, moose, wolves, coyotes and more—but she feels closest to the big cats. Anne graduated with honors at the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale in 1989. It was then that she met Don Moore...

Located in Toronto, Ontario
Vertical 1, a ceramic sculpture of wood-fired clay pigmented with oxides, is a work by New York artist Harold Wortsman. Vertical 1 was recently exhibited at "Harold Wortsman: Time and Space" at the Orange Art Foundation, February-March 2022, New York City. Note the blending of geometric and organic forms in this work – it is characteristic of his practice – warm, contemporary, uniquely crafted, yet speaks to ancient, primitive traditions of art-making that cross cultures and histories. Because the fire has reached a critical mass, it needs oxygen and chemically takes it from the clay and the oxides. Like a jazz improvisation, each kiln load comes out slightly different." From Jonathan Goodman – "Wortsman has increasingly moved into his own – a place in which the relations between the abstractions of volume and the intimations of very old culture are merged in a way that is new." – Essay, "Harold Wortsman: Time and Space", Orange Art Foundation, February 2022, New York City. Harold Wortsman is a sculptor and printmaker based in Brooklyn, NY. He “creates forms that bring to mind archaic cult objects and exude a quiet concentrated strength.” (Argauer Zeitung, Switzerland).
