Dina Recanati (born Diane Hettena; 1928 – 2021) was an Israeli artist, sculptor and painter.
Diane Hettena was born in Cairo, Egypt. In 1946, she married Raphael Recanati in Tel Aviv, Mandatory Palestine.
Went to London to study History and Art 1946-1948.
Moved to New York 1948. Raised two sons, Oudi and Michael.
Attended Art Student League 1959-1962. Studied with Jose de Creft and John Hovannes.
Beginning in 1964, she was active on the board of the America-israel Cultural Foundation. In the 1970s, she was a member of the board of the Israel Museum and in the 1980s Bezalel Academy of Art & Design, Jerusalem. At the same time as she was working as an artist, she was also collecting artwork. She lives and works in Herzliya and New York.
Most of Recanati's work is in the medium of sculpture. Her works, which contain images of books or parchment, have been influenced by American abstract expressionism in their use of swaths of color. In the 1980s and 1990s, she worked widely in sculptures in the public domain. Dina Recanati was a proponent of Israeli art and supported many Israeli artists. In the 1950s and 1960s, she showcased the work of beginning artists at the 5th Avenue branch of Israel Discount Bank in New York City, while growing Discount Bank’s art collection.
She has gone on to exhibit worldwide with permanent works in the Israel Museum, Tel Aviv Museum, Ben Gurion Airport, The Jewish Museum (New York) among others. She is the recipient of the AICF AVIV Award and The Council for a Beautiful Israel Yakir Award.
She was represented by Flomenhaft Gallery in New York City (was included in the Feminist Art Project along with Miriam Schapiro) and Gordon Gallery in Tel Aviv.
Recanati died in Herzliya Pituah at the ate of 93.

Artist Statement: In this piece, I wanted to create an environment that on the surface looks lovely: the colors are pretty, and the shapes feel inviting. This piece should give the viewer a sense of peace or hope. But I was also looking to explore an unarticulated sense of fear. The children head to a horizon of nothing. There are no trees, buildings, or any recognizable object. In fact, they are heading to unknown. The unknown can be our greatest fear. The fear of not knowing what is ahead of us can be debilitating, this type of fear can pull you back, keep you where you are. This type of fear can say to you: “It’s a scary world out there, better just stay where you are”. Instead of listening to the fear, these children represent the hope that it takes to continue to move forward relentlessly and resiliently. Joseph Maresca was born in Brooklyn, NY, in 1946, and currently resides in Rhinecliff, Rhinebeck, NY. He received his BFA in industrial design from Pratt Institute, and a master’s degree in arts education from New York University. His paintings and drawings have been exhibited in numerous galleries and museums, including the Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum, the Albright-Knox Art Gallery, the Katonah Museum of Art, and even the White House—in honor of his design for an official White House tree ornament depicting Vanderbilt Mansion. Academically, Maresca has taught as an adjunct professor at New York University and at City University of New York, and has authored a book—WPA Buildings: Architecture and Art of the New Deal (2017)—about the influence of Works Project Administration architecture. The book examines the social impact on American cities of the imposing government buildings that were funded by the WPA to restore public confidence during the Great Depression. Maresca has been represented by Carrie Haddad Gallery in Hudson, NY and Michelle Rosenfeld Gallery in New York City.

Jeri Eisenberg works primarily with non-traditional and alternative photo-based techniques. She represses or subverts traditional photography’s emphasis on the representational qualities of the medium, and emphasizes instead the medium’s expressive nature. She employs a strong sense of materiality and seductive surfaces in her work, to evoke sense memories and visceral connections. Her work steadfastly serves as an affirmation of beauty in the everyday natural world, but is tinged with the bittersweet - a reminder of the temporal condition, and an elegy for life.

The Ensō, a Japanese word meaning “circle” and a concept associated with Zen. It is at once the most fundamentally simple yet the most complex shape, symbolizing enlightenment, strength, elegance and the universe. It is an expression of living in, and being in the moment, mentally and spiritually whole. Often irregular in execution, always with a broken space within it. In the hands of Zen masters, the varieties of personal expression are endless.
Sylvia Torres, was born in California, one will find the ocean, sky and mountains reflected in her work. She also spent several years in Texas, where she attended the University of Houston, studied commercial art and became the Art Director at several advertising agencies. Eventually, the lure of California drew her back to California.
Ms. Torres has been an instructor of art workshops at Idyllwild Arts, Carnegie Art Museum, Studio Channel Islands Art Center,, Collage Artists Of America, the Ventura County Art Museum, University of California/Riverside,
She has exhibited in solo and group shows including: Palm Springs Art Museum, Santa Paula Art Museum, Ventura Music Festival Invitational, Channel Islands Sanctuary, San Luis Obispo Art Museum, Santa Paula Art Museum, Marion Meyer Contemporary Art, Laguna Beach, CA, East/West One, Invitational, in Thousand Oaks, CA, Ventura Government Center Invitational, Ventura, CA.
Sylvia was interviewed live, and her history video recorded by Donna Granata, founder of Focus On The Masters. Sylvia’s video history is permanently documented in their archives.
