''Eos'' Contemporary Underwater Portrait Painting, Girl Swimming in Pool
Located in Utrecht, NL
Amy Devlin portrays people, animals, or nature in her works. But what really matters to her is light and water, which she wants to capture in the form of a physical memory. By following her passion for paint, she tries to represent reality and thereby express her feeling in the expressive colors she uses. Her paintings show a fascination with the movement and texture of water, which is depicted in vivid colors in her works. Her hybrid painting style combines realism with impressionism in a very interesting way, providing a different view of the world and our memories of it. Devlin loves the unexpected, looks at things from a crazy angle and imagines. Since 2014 she mainly paints underwater portraits...

Italian Surrealist Oil Painting Jean Calogero Big Eyed Girl Doll Mandolin Flower
Located in Surfside, FL
Frame is 12 X 10. Canvas is 9.5 X 7.5 Calogero was born August 20, 1922 in Catania, Sicily. Self-taught Surreal Artist First exhibitions in 1945 in Sicily and Rome were very successful. He arrived in Paris in 1947 and studied at the Ecole des Beaux Arts. He is best known for his Surrealism and genre works. His paintings are dreamlike and visionary. They travel to an infinite space created by the artist through his memories, the sky and the sea so dear to him. In his paintings there are a few common themes: the masks with their dual dimensions that hide or shows only what you want, the profiles of the women, and the horsemen, drawn as the Sicilian tradition requires. He exhibited at the Gallery Hervé in 1951 and the following year he went to New York to present his show, then in 1953 he was invited to Los Angeles, where he returned two years later, and from where he regularly exhibited his works, and San Francisco. In 1954, Maximilien Gauthier devoted a book to him published by "The Gemini." The first exhibition in Japan was in 1965. He was awarded the Grand Silver Medal by the City of Paris in 1957. Calogero had countless exhibitions in Paris, in the fifties, plus the American exhibitions in New York (Associated American Artists, 1952), Los Angeles (James Vigevano Galleries, 1953) and then later in Japan and in major galleries in Italy. He lived and worked for many years in Paris and Italy. He died in 2001. Galerie Hervè, Parigi 1950. Associated American Artists - New York 1952. James Vigevano Galleries, Los Angeles 1953. An Autumn Evening Study, 1901 (En höstkvällstudie, 1901)
Located in Stockholm, SE
This landscape painting by Swedish artist Fritz Lindström captures the tranquility of the Stockholm archipelago. "An Autumn Evening Study, 1901" is a stunning portrayal of a rural scene at dusk. The painting's delicate pink and purple sky envelops the landscape in a soft glow, hinting at the transition from day to night. In the middle ground, a farmer with his horse can be seen plowing a field, adding a narrative element to this peaceful scene. This work is one of several paintings Lindström created during this period, following his time in France and prior to joining the Rackstad group in 1903. BIOGRAPHY Fritz Lindström started his artistic journey as an apprentice in decorative painting under Carl Grabow, where he met fellow artist Björn Ahlgrensson. He later studied at the Artists' Association School in Stockholm with Richard Bergh (1892–1894 and 1895–1896) and at Valand Art School in Gothenburg under Carl Larsson (1894–1895). His studies continued in Copenhagen and Paris from 1897 to 1899. In 1900, Lindström returned to Sweden, drawn to Värmland by his friend and brother-in-law Björn Ahlgrensson. From 1903 onwards, he became part of the Rackstad group—a community of artists who saw the countryside as an ideal setting for artistic and spiritual work. This belief resonated with Lindström, and he remained dedicated to this lifestyle for over fifty years, living and working by Lake Racken. Lindström's early artistic focus was on the challenging art of human studies, which piqued his interest. Despite financial struggles and difficulty selling his paintings, he gained recognition mainly for his portraits, known for their well-constructed composition and deep psychological insight. Portrait painting became crucial for his financial stability. Interest in his landscape paintings grew when the director of the National Museum happened upon his landscapes during an exhibition opening...

Bobby' Nightmare (pug dog face helicopter vintage surreal oil painting)
Located in Quebec, Quebec
"Bobby's Nightmare" by Rudolf Kosow is a striking blend of humor and surrealism, juxtaposing an exaggeratedly expressive pug with an intense military scene. The dog's bulging eyes, lolling tongue, and shocked expression contrast sharply with the highly detailed helicopter and soldiers descending from the sky, creating an absurd and unexpected composition. The painting plays on the idea of a pet's anxiety, turning an ordinary moment of canine surprise into an action-packed, almost cinematic spectacle. The hyperrealistic rendering of the pug’s fur and facial details enhances the surrealism, making the implausible scene feel eerily convincing. With its mix of realism and whimsy, Bobby’s Nightmare captures the chaotic energy of an overactive imagination—whether that of a dog startled by its surroundings or a playful human interpretation of a pet’s exaggerated emotions. keywords; painting on canvas, surrealist painting, americana...

Composition cubiste by G. Mathias – Geometric Abstract Cubism in Blue and Ochre
Located in PÉRIGUEUX, FR
Composition Cubiste (Cubist Composition) Acrylic on canvas 60 x 50 cm A bold and structured cubist composition by Grégoire Mathias, balancing angular abstraction and muted vibrancy through ochre, slate blue, and cream tones. A refined homage to classical Cubism, ideal for collectors and interior designers alike. This acrylic on canvas painting titled Composition cubiste by French artist Greg Mathias exemplifies his distinctive interpretation of geometric abstraction. Influenced by the analytical Cubist movement, the work distills reality into a symphony of angles and layered planes. Triangular and faceted shapes intersect and overlap in a carefully constructed composition, creating visual depth without relying on traditional perspective. Mathias plays with a restrained yet impactful color palette of ochre, slate blue, pale teal, charcoal, and warm neutrals, giving the piece a harmonious architectural balance. The composition invites the eye to travel across textures and interlocking forms—an exploration of spatial tension and rhythm. Though the artist is best known for his Diachronic Cubism, this painting is rooted in a more analytical approach. It recalls early 20th-century abstraction, where reality is fragmented into geometry and form is prioritized over narrative. The result is a piece both timeless and contemporary—suited for refined interiors that embrace strong visual identity. Perfect For: Interior designers sourcing geometric abstract wall art for modern or transitional spaces. A standout piece for accent walls, entryways, hallways, or home libraries. Ideal for collectors seeking statement cubist art in a classic color scheme. Especially suitable for art-forward interiors with modernist or Bauhaus elements. Keywords: Greg Mathias, Composition cubiste, French abstract art, analytical cubism, geometric abstraction, modern cubism painting, acrylic on canvas, blue ochre abstract, cubist wall art, contemporary European art, interior design wall piece, vertical wall art...

Grey & Tan Abstract Expressionist Textural Mid-Century Abstract by Peter Witwer
Located in Soquel, CA
Grey & Tan Abstract Expressionist Textural Mid-Century Abstract by Peter Witwer Heavily textured, expressive composition by Peter Witwer (American, 1928-1968). Over the top of a heavy base layer of plaster, Witwer has added various layers of oil paint, creating a massive amount of depth and texture. Sections of red peek out from underneath various shades of tan, grey, and black. Spots of blue and purple are used sparingly, hidden in the composition. Presented in a wood frame. Canvas size: 20"H x 40"W Frame size: 26.63"H x 46.63"W Unsigned, but was acquired with a collection of the artist's work. Provenance: Without a will and a family that had little interest in his art, nearly all of his possessions and close to 100 paintings were turned over to SF’s Conservators Office. His friend, Albert Richard Lasker, purchased all of Peter’s possessions (including the art) and has taken care of them until this day, always sensing there was something remarkable about the collection. Wanting Peter’s work to finally be seen, Richard came to Lost Art Salon with Peter’s story after reading about the new gallery in a July, 2005 issue of the SF Chronicle. Born George Peter...

Located in Barcelona, Barcelona
Title: Woman Selling Fruit Author: Rosendo González Carbonell Technique and Support: Oil on canvas Dimensions: 31.9 x 25.6 in (unframed) Period: 1970s Style: Costumbrist realism with impressionist influences Condition: Part of a private collection Description of the Artwork The painting portrays a woman holding a basket filled with fruit, notably apples and pears, focusing on warm and dark contrasts that add depth and realism to the composition. The artist creates an intimate atmosphere, skillfully manipulating light to highlight the woman's facial features and the textures of the fruit. The figure’s attire evokes a classical style, likely inspired by costumbrist themes. Rosendo González Carbonell, renowned for his focus on traditional scenes and female figures, employs in this piece loose yet precise brushstrokes, creating dynamism that enhances the composition. The warm hues of the fruit and the serene expression of the woman reflect the artist’s intention to capture a moment of everyday life with sensitivity and expressiveness. Author’s Biography Rosendo González Carbonell (Barcelona, 1910 - 1984) was a Spanish painter recognized for his focus on female figures, portraits, and landscapes. He studied at the Acadèmia de Belles Arts de Sabadell under the mentorship of Mayoral and Antoni Alsina i Amils and also attended the "Llotja" art academy in Barcelona. He was a disciple of Bonaventura Puig Perucho and maintained a close friendship with painter Alejandro Huerta Lucas. He participated in the National Fine Arts Exhibitions held in Barcelona in 1942 and 1944. His work reflects the tradition of Catalan painters such as Joaquim Mir and Santiago Rusiñol, as well as influences from impressionist masters like Claude Monet and Camille Pissarro. González Carbonell often depicted small villages, rural churches, and tranquil landscapes, balancing meticulous detail with impressionist brushstrokes that bring his compositions to life. Similar Artists González Carbonell shares artistic sensitivities with other renowned painters who captured the essence of landscapes and human figures through light and color: Joaquim Mir: Renowned for his luminous interpretations of the Catalan landscape.
