Boy & Girl, Ciril, Acrylic, high quality cotton fiver on canvas, Brown"In Stock"
Located in Kolkata, West Bengal
CF John - Untitled - 24 x 24 inches (unframed size) Ciril Acrylic and high quality cotton fiver on canvas Inclusive of shipment in ready to hang form. Style : C.F. John’s subject brings together the balance of lines and planes, as well as of the rational and emotional in human existence. The results are astonishing – moments of unusual physical calm and motion arrested on the canvas. C.F John is uses his artworks to spread awareness about sensitive issues that affect the society in general. C.F John has also developed an innovative style of adding natural fibres on his canvases.John’s artwork is not easy. It is a continual challenge both to himself and the viewer. Like all else, he sees art as a fluid space which transcends ideologies, and is freed from ‘endless imitation’ of current thoughts in circulation. His deep faith in the earth and its ability to renew itself gives his art an edge that constantly defies definitions, categories and labels. In communion with the natural world, his art remains fresh and alive. About the Artist and his work : Born : 1960, Kerala. Education : • Initiations in Art under Jyothi Sahi at Silvepura, Bangalore. • Disciple of Anthony Devasy of Kalakendra, Thrissur . Selected Solo Exhibitions : • 2005 ‘Landscape Parables’, Malabar House, Kochi. • 1997 Gallery Sumukha, Bangalore. • 1997 Mainz and Saarbrucken, Germany. • 1991 Alliance Francaise, Bangalore. Recessed Discussion Stream - Contemporary, 21st Century, Sculpture, Sculpture
By Liam Gillick
Located in Zug, CH
Liam Gillick, Recessed Discussion Stream Plexiglas and MDF Edition of 30 12 x 50.1 x 20 cm (4.7 x 19.7 x 7.9 in) Signed and numbered on Certificate of Authenticity In mint condition, as acquired from the publisher PLEASE NOTE: Edition numbers could vary from the one shown in the pictures. The pictures shown are only for illustrative reasons, the piece is offered unframed. Gillick’s work exposes the dysfunctional aspects of a modernist legacy in terms of abstraction and architecture when framed within a globalized, neo-liberal consensus. His work extends into structural rethinking of the exhibition as a form. He deploys multiple forms to expose the new ideological control systems that emerged at the beginning of the 1990s. "By making the abstract concrete, art no longer retains any abstract quality, it merely announces a constant striving for a state of abstraction and in turn produces more abstraction to pursue." -Liam Gillick Gillick’s work has had a profound impact on a contemporary understanding of how art and architecture influence, and are themselves influenced by, interpersonal communication and interactions in the public sphere. This colorful Plexiglas...

Nocturnal Parts - abstract geometric contemporary modern painting relief
Located in Doetinchem, NL
Nocturnal Parts is a unique one-of-a-kind contemporary modern painting relief by Dutch artist Sander Martijn Jonker. It is a relief consisting of two open spherical parts with an intriguing matte black finish, perhaps a bit mysterious but very beautifully made. It can be hanged in two different ways, with the opening between the two spherical elements either facing away or facing the observer. Depending where the light comes from one might decide for the one or the other hanging method. Sander Martijn Jonker (1977, Netherlands) graduated from the St. Joost School of Art & Design in Den Bosch, The Netherlands. He primarily makes three-dimensional reliefs that play with the tension between abstraction and representation, surface and space. Light, shadow and their elusive ever-changing properties play an important role. Although the resulting works are abstract, he uses everyday reality as a starting and/or reference point. His work is created through forms of manipulation, distortion, repetition and simplification. Some works arise from the repetition of a simple movement or form, others are made by exploring how far he can go with the deformation and manipulation of the material, after which he captures and preserves the shape. He experiences daily life as uncontrollable and at times confusing. In order to cope with that, he is always looking for patterns and has gradually developed various rituals and ways of control, hoping they can offer him certainty and reassurance. His work and person are inextricably connected. He makes the things he makes because he doesn’t have a choice. He is trying to get a grip...

Located in Doetinchem, NL
Covered Parts 2413 is a unique one-of-a-kind contemporary modern painting relief by Dutch artist Sander Martijn Jonker. His reliefs are made by creating a unique single-use mould in which layers of jute-reinforced acrylic resin are meticulously shaped into three-dimensional forms, sometimes more geometric, sometimes more organic. The resin in this bluish-white relief is filled with a pigmented sand, finished with a high-quality wax and nicely mounted in a bespoke beech veneered mdf frame which enables hanging in four different ways.
