Sculpture; 'Portal'
Located in New York, NY
The artistic collaboration of Kelly Bugden + Van Wifvat has produced a thought-provoking body of sculptures, paintings, and constructions. Nature, childhood memories, and everyday archetypes take shape in unexpected combinations of materials. The works emerged as the tactile and visual senses channeled the ritualistic power and materiality of selected artifacts. The resulting objects exist in a space between what they were originally and what they could become. A wheel, for example, is distorted as if seen through a prism. Their collaboration grew out of years of shaping materials into one-of-a-kind objects. Intuitively, the process of creating with their hands took an inward turn. Prism is a travelogue through memories and dreams, yielding abstract forms that capture moments of transformation. Van Wifvat grew up with eight siblings and studied sculpture and environmental design in Minneapolis at MCAD. In 1979, he opened a storefront art gallery to promote the work of local artists. The space featured printed materials—art books, periodicals, fanzines, and postcard’s. Wifvat moved to New York in 1983 to study at the Fashion Institute of Technology and Parsons. In 1987, he co-founded Van Gregory & Norton design studio, specializing in convex mirrors and curtain hardware...

White on Black
Located in Miami, FL
"White on Black" is a painting created by Enrico Benetta in 2010. This piece can be hung by itself, or be considered as part of a diptych with "Black on White". The painting comes unframed, with a total dimension of 28" x 59" x 5". This piece was made with acrylic paint, gesso, and corten steel - the signature materials that Benetta has become known for. Thanks to his excellent skills, the artist uses unconventional media to create truly unique artworks, that take the viewer to an aerial, restless dimension - despite the opposite nature of those materials. Benetta's work takes the heritage of Italian industrial design and fuses it with contemporary art, giving life to unique abstract pieces that spark the attention of art lovers worldwide. He studied Fine Arts in Venice, and his work has been featured in more than 25 exhibitions in the recent years, in addition to his collaboration with brands like Hermes...

"Path To The Lake" Oil on Canvas Landscape 20" X 16" by Hal Frater
Located in Carmel, CA
Hal Frater passed away on February 3, 2008, just a month from celebrating his 99th birthday. Hal Frater had a long and prolific career. He became a sought after commercial artist for over fifty years and was an early member of the well-know Society of Illustrators in New York City. All the while he would return to his studio and paint for himself rather than his clients. Yet he always retained his illustration roots in wanting to tell a story on canvas with his keen eye of observation on the human condition. Often he would join fellow artists in informal sessions and paint from a model - no formal art school training but a mutually beneficial learning experience. His contemporaries that influenced him were Jack Levine, Raphael Soyer, John Sloan, Thomas Hart Benton, Reginald Marsh and Phillip Reisman...

My Home Town by Judith Williams contemporary collage abstract on canvas
Located in Atlanta, GA
"My torn paper shapes are put together like large remains of sculpture being reassembled. My initial thoughts are on pure shape. The unusual shapes coming together in their raw simplistic form, how they interact with each other, the shapes creating their own language. I let them stand alone in their purest form. The way they come together in the space helps ground them, giving a friction of sorts, a system, a world built around the forms, a quiet place within. I love large inviting spaces, as if to say, “Come here, I’m here to comfort you.” I am creating a space where you find a soothing uncluttered balance. I want you to like the stillness there. So every piece of work has a piece of me in it, my personality, my love of spaciousness and calm. I am totally aware of every aspect of the work and in the moment, concentrating on that one moment in time—the Now. It is my desire that the sense of peace, harmony, and stillness is communicated to you." Judith Williams...
