1977 original propaganda poster by the Soviet artistic collective Koukryniksy

By Koukryniksy

Located in PARIS, FR

The 1977 original poster by the Soviet artistic collective Koukryniksy reflects their renowned style of sharp political caricature and satire. Active from the 1920s to the 1970s, Koukryniksy, consisting of Mikhail Kupriyanov, Porfiry Krylov, and Nikolai Sokolov, produced some of the most influential propaganda of the 20th century. This piece addresses themes of anti-racism and anti-fascism, created during a period when Cold War tensions were high, and Soviet propaganda aimed to critique Western colonialism and racism. It was part of the USSR's broader messaging to inspire solidarity with global equality movements and expose perceived moral failings of rival nations. The poster employs bold symbolism and caricature to deliver a strong political message in line with the collective’s tradition of impactful satire. Today, works by Koukryniksy are valued as historical artifacts, offering insight into Soviet perspectives during the Cold War. This 1977 poster remains a sought-after piece for collectors interested in propaganda art...

The original Soviet propaganda poster by T. Lyashchuk, titled "Gloire au peuple soviétique pionnier de l'espace ! Socialisme et communisme c'est le port spatiale fiable d'où l'humanité prend d'assaut et dirigera les étendues de l'univers," stands as a monumental tribute to the Soviet Union's achievements in space exploration. "In the Andalusian Desert" Oil Painting

"In the Andalusian Desert" Oil Painting

By Ulrich Gleiter

Located in Denver, CO

Ulrich Gleiter's (EUR based) "In the Andalusian Desert" is an oil painting that depicts the textural hillside of a desert landscape. Bio/Artist Statement: German-born artist Ulrich Gleiter (b. 1977) is noted for his landscapes. His style is sometimes reminiscent of German expressionism and the Russian impressionists. He first studied at the Dresden Academy of Arts and later at the Repin Academy in Saint Petersburg, Russia. His work has been recognized with awards in the USA and in Russia and been featured in books and magazines. "Ulrich Gleiter is a citizen of the world. Born in Saarbrücken, Germany, he pursued his undergraduate studies at Dresden’s Academy of Fine Arts, where he learned to paint with the bold, colorful strokes handed down from the early 20th-century German expressionists. Students there prioritized their individuality — no one but you could have made this picture, they were told. Gleiter then absorbed a different view of artistry during his exchange year at Moscow’s Surikov Institute, followed by six more years at the Repin Institute in St. Petersburg. Today Gleiter divides time between Germany, Russia, and the United States, where he has become much admired among plein-airists in such scenic places as Colorado, California, and Wyoming. In our era of diplomatic tensions, when Crimea and Russia appear regularly in the headlines, Gleiter feels a renewed appreciation for nature’s timelessness — for its inspiring capacity to rise above the ins-and-outs of man-made problems. Today, he says, “I often think about the history of an area where I am painting, about how many troubles and beautiful things may have happened there. Most importantly, I am humbled to observe how natural forces never stop moving.” Gleiter turns his searching eye not only to wilderness, but also to the banalities of urban life — to parked cars, the glinting sprawl of an automobile dealer’s lot, retail stores, and even cargo ships. There, too — as in his portraits, nudes, and still lifes — he manages to find abstracted beauty and emotional significance in the interactions of light, color, and air." By Georges Mathieu

Located in PARIS, FR

The 1971 Prix d'Amérique poster by Mathieu for the Loterie Nationale is a striking example of mid-20th-century French graphic design, capturing the essence of one of France's most prestigious horse racing events. The Prix d'Amérique, held annually at the Hippodrome de Vincennes, is the world's most famous trotting race, and the Loterie Nationale (National Lottery) played an essential role in promoting and supporting major national events such as this. Mathieu, the designer of this poster, was known for his ability to blend dynamic imagery with modernist design principles, often creating works that felt both contemporary and timeless. This poster encapsulates the excitement and grandeur of the Prix d'Amérique, utilizing bold colors and clean lines that were hallmarks of graphic design during that era. The poster was not only an advertisement for the event but also for the Loterie Nationale, which used such occasions to encourage public participation in the national lottery.
