"Alubulidae 1"Hand forged salvaged steel fish wall sculpture

By Hugh Holborn

Located in Edgartown, MA

Hugh Holborn is that rare kind of craftsman who is also an auteur in his own right. He started his journey when he was 12 as an apprentice for New Mexico sculptor Jim Martin. From there he went on to study his craft at the American College of Building Art. He brings industrial materials such as steel, iron and salvaged metals to life as metallic marine life, honoring the aquatic creatures around which he lives. Growing up between the New England islands and Florida, Holborn feels blessed to have always lived boating on and swimming in the waters that now inspire his metalwork. Memories from diving and fishing are important parts of his life, yet with climate changed and increased environmental concerns he also recognizes his experience with the ocean as impermanent. Holborn now lives in St. Augustine, Florida with his girlfriend and their newborn twin daughters. His artwork has given him a sense of self reliance and environmental stewardship—being able to craft functional items for his own home and doing so in a way he knows is environmentally conscious. He plans to keep creating art using historical methods, and wants to keep those methods alive by teaching them to new craftsman...

Abstract Men Sculpture Brown Rusted Metal Silver Resin

By Moisés Gil

Located in ALCOY/ALCOI, ES

Creuar la Porta Here some fragments for one of his latest exhibition catalogue “I think that a work of art should puzzle viewers, make them reflect on the meaning of life” Antoni Tàpies Moisés Gil’s sculptures can be described as philosophical and conceptual, as they encourage individuals to reflect and act in a never-ending existential struggle, in the face of the multiple situations by which they are affected in contemporary societies. Art is always a form of communication: communication with and between the materials employed by the artist, giving rise to an aesthetic visual balance able to convey feelings, emotions and ideas, all of which are essential to a nonconformist commitment and worldview. Moisés Gil puts his representations of individuals in sculptural structures to better indicate the place of humans in the world, the place of contemporary individuals in their different environments, sometimes hostile; they are naked men...

Bad Moon Ascending, Abstract Steel Sculpture, 2020

By Fred Klingelhofer

Located in Boston, MA

Artist Commentary: Bad Moon Ascending is a result of a lyric in the CCR song "Bad Moon Rising", the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, and my sculptural pursuits of my "Event" series. Keywords: abstract, welded metal Artist Biography: Fred Klingelhofer, a primarily self-taught artist, grew up in a Chicago south side neighborhood. He received a BS degree in physics from Roosevelt University and worked as an engineer for 30 years. During those years he enrolled in art workshops and classes at a nearby community college completing courses in figure drawing, 2D and 3D design, ceramics, sculpting the figure, welding and metal sculpture. His focus has been on creating sculpture since 2006. Fred has exhibited his sculpture in a number of group exhibitions with Chicago Sculpture International, Art Prize (Grand Rapids, Michigan), Sculpture in the Park (St Charles, Illinois), Sculpture Walk Sioux Falls...

Before the Animals, 36"high mixed media, unique sculpture

By Ron Chapel

Located in Loveland, CO

"Before the Animals" by Chapel 36x14x8" one-of-a-kind sculpture Mixed Media: Cast Bronze, Dyed Concrete, Steel, Marble This particular piece is available from the estate of the artist. It is in excellent, like-new, condition. Shipping price includes the custom packing necessary for safe transport of fine art. Chapel, 1948-2021, Artist's Statement: “I was raised on the Western Slope of Colorado, with almost unfettered access to the American wilderness. I currently reside on a sailboat in Oakland, CA with my studio in nearby San Leandro. I work with permanent materials including bronze, steel, stainless steel, aluminum, glass and stone. It is my contention that a work of art must include a complete environment, not just a single object. In my opinion, it is very difficult to convey meaning with either pure abstraction, or pure representation. Describing an abstract concept with another abstraction does not define the subject. There is nothing in a completely non-objective artwork from the viewers experience upon which to base some meaning. One the other hand, a completely realistic presentation doesn't define an abstraction any better than a dictionary. This is why my sculpture is a blend - the symbolic joining of modern man with primitive experience. They are in-depth studies of the archetypes and symbols used to communicate their relevance to our everyday lives. Mythology, poetry and art are humanity's attempt to describe the mysteries of life which are beyond our ability to consciously comprehend. This is the appeal of the visual arts, poetry, literature and music; they excite an emotional response, or memory that transcends mere words.” - Ron Chapel...
