Contemporary Abstract Painting, "Graphic Splash" (blue, violet, peach)
Located in New York, NY
A violet impasto stroke of color is positioned next to a raspberry violet form in this contemporary abstract painting by the New York/ Hawaiian artist, Debra Drexler. The shapes create a layers of cut-out colors with cool blues, peach orange and yellows.
Debra Drexler maintains studios in both New York and Oahu, and her work is informed by her unique bi-coastal experience. In her luminous, large-scale abstract paintings, she brings the transcendent experience of the Hawaiian landscape to a New York audience. Through her New York based studio and curatorial practices, she is also deeply engaged in critical conversation surrounding new abstraction. She states “Abstraction takes us to a state of timelessness that is primal in its humanity, disconnecting us momentarily from the mediated “now” of our electronic devices, and connecting us to a “now” that gives us a glimpse of the infinite. While our insistent digital projections can take us away from both our animal and spiritual nature, abstract painting reminds us again of what it means to be human. The corporality of the paint mirrors the flesh of the body and transports us into the timeless.”
Debra Drexler's paintings are informed both by participating in the contemporary resurgence of abstraction coming out of New York, and by living in the Post Colonial Pacific for close to three decades. In the 21st century, much of our experience is mediated through the screens of our devices. In contrast, the making and viewing of paintings remains a direct, engaging experience in Drexler's paintings. She aims to take us to a state of timelessness that is primal in its humanity, disconnecting us momentarily from the mediated “now” of our electronic devices, and connecting us to a “now” that gives us a glimpse of the infinite. As a colorist, Debra Drexler provokes unexpected color relationships and creates spatial contradictions that come from those interactions. Some of her color choices reference the post digital experience with its highly saturated synthetic color. The luminosity and saturation also mirror the unique quality of light and tropical color interactions in Hawai’i, where Drexler also lives. Her work is driven by an athletic painting...

"Cleopatra" - Hyperrealist Figurative Painting by Georgina Clapham
Located in West Hollywood, CA
This vertical 31.5 inch high by 23.5 inch wide original oil painting on linen is wired and ready to hang. The hyperrealistic detail in the is artwork is astounding. A reimagined alternative view of the icon Cleopatra draws you in with her serpent. The sides of the artwork are not painted and it does not require framing. It is signed and titled by the artist on the back of the artwork
British painter Georgina Clapham conspicuously engages with story telling and theatricality, drawing together Renaissance portraiture, Greek Mythology, folklore, mysticism, animals, nature, the artificial, high fashion, subculture, gender, identity and sexuality, in her meticulous life size figurative paintings. Through the traditional media of oil paint on linen and intaglio printmaking, she creates her own contemporary mythologies. Staging her paintings using people in her everyday life, she infuses these timeless narratives with the intimacy and tangibility of her friendships and personal relationships drawing out their psychology and sexuality; as such, the works become as much a depiction of her own imagined narrative as of the individuals’ personality.
She has previously attended City and Guilds of London Art School, 2013 and The Glasgow School of Art, 2014-16, where her work was purchased into the archive. In 2015 she was awarded The Richard Ford...

48"x72" signed on reverse by the artist. This is a contemporary abstract painting by the New York/ Hawaiian artist, Debra Drexler. Bright, nearly neon orange and pink fields of color are contrasted by an electric blue large path brushstroke. The composition and color are reminiscent of the coral, magenta and rose sunset against a blue body of water.

Felicity Mara was born in London and studied Fine Art in Camberwell, though her works are intimately connected to the artistic heart of Cornwall, St Ives. Moving to the Duchy in 1994, she is now based at Porthmeor Studios, a space on the edge of the Atlantic which was used by Ben Nicholson and Sir Terry Frost.
It is from here that she creates her elegantly spare pictures from abstracted forms in the much the same way that the St Ives school did in the 60s. Subject matter can be found, with vistas through windows, still lifes and waveforms alluded to in the sweeping marks of her brush. Felicity's sparse marks show the restraint of minimalism, so much more impressive in the usually large scale of her canvases. To create these striking lines, Felicity uses a wonderfully fresh palette and by leaving sections of the canvas unpainted her pictures echo the textures of the coastal landscape seen from her studio.
"My paintings are not literal depictions of the things around me, but I work with all these things in a sense - the landscape outside my window...

One Of The Ways
Located in San Diego, CA
"One Of The Ways" depicts a densely populated grove. As with other of Carpenter's paintings, this scene invites viewers to look closer and also to go out to explore nature.
As a painter, I examine how the depiction of light contributes to our experience of paintings. The portrayal of light helps a painting to convey the atmosphere and mood of a scene, and is much of what enables a painting to convey depth and realism. Our perception of lighting features occurs largely through pathways in the brain that carry only black and white information, pathways which are distinct from areas that encode the colors and details we use to delineate specific objects. By painting in grayscale, I try to interact specifically with this region of our visual system, with the hope of conveying some of the spaciousness and emotional significance that light can imbue on scenes. Light, whether as the crisp contrast of a back-lit forest or the gray haze of an industrial landscape, is what defines a scene. Its power to communicate the feel of a place is the principle subject of my paintings.
