About the Item

Edward Harrison Compton received his initial training from his father Edward Theodore Compton the renowned mountain landscape painter. He then went on to receive some formal instruction at the Central School of Arts and Crafts in London. Like his father Edward painted the mountains until a bout of polio when he was twenty eight. After this he painted in locations that were more easily accessible including travelling widely in Europe. This stunning oil on canvas painting perfectly captures the Bay of Naples in glowing light.
