About the Item

The present work is from the artist’s “Becoming” series, which consists of 147 photographs documenting the transformation of a green field into Beijing’s new national airport, the largest covered structure in the world. Each photo’s mat is numbered and dated in engraved lettering on passe-partout. As a whole, they provide an unusual viewpoint of the building’s development, from mass of scaffolding and bags of cement to the airport terminal that it is today.
