This sculpture was part of a show reviewed in the Boston Globe. "Dewart sculpts gatelike forms and mandalas that read like sacred geometry. The gate template, is basic and universal, but he layers these sculptures with cruciforms, Islamic tile designs and patterns that echo the Kabbalah's Tree of Life. Dewart is a master of material and refinement with terrific sensitivity to the expressiveness of surface, but the pattern and symbol creates a mystical portal to entice viewers inward on their own soul's journey." The Prophet was among the most popular pieces in the show and immediately sold. This is the second in the edition, 2/6.

Murray Dewart
Murray Dewart is an internationally recognized sculptor with works in more than forty museums and public collections around the world. He was born in Vermont in 1947, educated at Harvard College and Massachusetts College of Art. His signature works in bronze and granite are monumental in scale, evocative and universal. Two Chinese cities, Beijing, and Fuzhou commissioned him to build large sculptures for their international sculpture parks. He is an eloquent spokesman for the arts and editor of the Random House anthology, Poems about Sculpture. He is the co-founder of Boston Sculptors Gallery, in 2022 celebrating its thirtieth anniversary.
