Abstract Impressionist Art

This artwork was created by the artistic duo Hunter & Gatti (2010–2023). These works are part of the archive managed and exhibited by Cristian Hunter. The artist's technique consists of the use of two prints, the first print is the original photography, and the second print is a blurry version of the image printed on glass. The glass version of the picture is shattered with an iron tool to be able to control the rupture. The artists glued the glass parts on top of the original picture, creating a blurred effect. The artists explore even further the infinite possibilities of transformation by turning something as temporary as a fashion editorial, into something completely different and original; a unique piece of art. The “visible” spectrum, is probably the most well-known of human sensory limitations, as the human #eye is only capable of perceiving light at wavelengths between 390 and 750 nanometers. Of course, calling it the “visible” spectrum is a bit of a misnomer, as plenty of animals are capable of perceiving light with frequencies outside this relatively narrow band of electromagnetic radiation. Edith Isaac-Rose "Pastel Landscape in Blues 2" c.1960 Pastel on paper 17"x15" unframed Unsigned Edith Isaac-Rose (1929-2018) Born in Chicago in 1929, and neé Ganansky-Teitelbaum, she graduated from The Art Institute of Chicago in 1951 and moved to New York in 1959 where she lived ever since. Taking as her professional name her parents’ first names, Edith was a prolific artist working first as an abstract expressionist then turning in the 1980s to figurative, political work consisting of drawings, paintings, and embroideries which she called “Daily Rage”. She had been represented by the Phyllis Kind Gallery and her work is in the Hirshhorn Museum as well as numerous private collections. Edith, along with her partner of 35 years, Bea Kreloff, (1925-2016), founded Art Workshop International in 1981 where they held art and writing workshops in Assisi, Italy, Monhegan Island, Maine, and Puerto Escondido, Mexico. This beautiful monoprint by the noted San Francisco artist Gary Bukovnik (1947-) has a wonderful energy borne of bright colors and bold gestures. It is a beautiful abstract composition, improvisational, yet balanced and harmonious. The work measures 23.5”x9.75” the image, 29.5”x15.5 the sheet and 32.75”x18.75” framed. The print is signed and dated in the lower margin, “Gary Bukovnik 1987”. The print is mounted and floating on a linen backing, framed in a bleached wood frame and protected by Plexiglas. It is in excellent condition. The frame and Plexiglas are in fair-to good condition, with one very small chip on the left bar of the frame, which I have shown in the final photograph, as well as a few very light scratches in the Plexiglas (not over the image).. This exceptional art would look beautiful in a variety of settings – home or office. Born and educated in Cleveland, Gary Bukovnik has lived in San Francisco for more than a third of a century. Primarily using the media of watercolor, monotype, and lithograph, Bukovnik fuses sensual vitality with fluid yet powerful colorations, creating floral and culinary images of great depth, intensity, and size.
