Wrapped Roman Wall - Photolithograph by Christo - 1974 ca

By Christo

Located in Napoli, IT

In February and March 1974, for a period of 40 days, a 820-foot long section of the Aurelian Walls was wrapped in polypropylene and rope, covering both sides, the top and the arches of the wall. Forty construction workers completed the temporary work of art in four days. Christo Vladimirov Javachev (Christo) and his wife Jeanne-Claude are famous for making impressive and often controversial art installations. Their works include the wrapping of the Reichstag in Berlin, the Pont Neuf in Paris, a Roman wall...

Windmill Grass and Oak, Boddy Ranch, Henrietta, Texas

By David H. Gibson

Located in Sante Fe, NM

Born in 1939 in Louisville Kentucky, David Gibson is primarily a self-taught photographer. Years of developing and refining his photographic technique have afforded him much recognition, especially for his panoramic landscapes of Texas and the Four Corners region. He has also photographed extensively in Ireland, a project for which he received a grant from the Ballinglen Arts Foundation in 1995. He has exhibited widely in both group and solo exhibitions, and his work is a part of several permanent public and corporate collections such as the Amon Carter Museum and the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. Gibson's luminous black-and-white landscapes demonstrate a remarkable sensitivity to light and mood. Dramatic clouds, imminent storms and an occasional lighting strike...

Lightning/Cotton Field, limited edition photograph, archival, signed The adrenaline of seeing Mother Nature during some of her finest moments will be ingrained in me forever. It is a humbling experience - and I feel fortunate to have witnessed her power and grandeur over the past 12 years. My experiences are hard to describe in words During this last trip (July 2021) we traveled over 6400 miles in 10 days crossing through 10 different states - all in my quest/passion to photograph these storm systems. But this time the events of the last year made me more aware, opened my eyes wider, and had a different effect on me. The effects of Climate Change have become obvious. The current patterns are changing and they are accelerating faster than anyone realized or predicted. Just over the past decade, the characteristics of the Jet Stream and the Gulf Stream...

(His iconic images of Jack Nicholson and Anjelica Huston; Marcel Duchamp and Eve Babitz; and a young Jodie Foster are already classics.) In 1968 TIME Magazine assigned Wasser to go to the home of the young writer Joan Didion whose book Slouching Towards Bethlehem was becoming a literary sensation. “I’d read her fiction,” said Wasser. “and she didn’t miss a thing. She was such a heavyweight person.” Wasser shot Didion at her rented house on Franklin Avenue in Hollywood, where she lived with her husband, the writer John Gregory Dunne, and their daughter, Quintana Roo. “It was a nice, cozy house,” Wasser remembers. “And she was a very easy person to talk to...
