Antique Heron

The snowy egret is a small white heron. The genus name comes from Provençal French for the little egret, aigrette, which is a diminutive of aigron, 'heron'.

The central column is adorned with classical motifs and terminates in a tripartite base composed of three intricately carved herons, their heads turned inwards, resting on claw feet.
