The porcelain jugs are ‘bleu celeste’ (sky blue) in colour and their bodies are finely decorated with paintings of young courting couples in Arcadian landscapes.

The compositions are framed within circular bands of gilt and turquoise blue, otherwise known as 'bleu celeste', which was pioneered by the Sevres porcelain factory.

Each design is surrounded by a border in the bleu céleste ground typical of Sèvres porcelainware, and ormolu borders and scrolled motifs are also mounted to the façade.
