Alexandra Manukyan (b. 1963) is an Armenian-American artist whose figurative oil paintings merge Old Master techniques with contemporary symbolism and surrealist elements. Following extensive art training in Armenia and a successful two-decade career in fashion and graphic design after immigrating to Los Angeles in 1990, Manukyan transitioned to painting full-time in 2012. Her meticulously rendered works—predominantly in oil on Belgian linen—feature powerful female figures adorned in elaborate costumes personally designed and constructed by the artist. Through a distinctive "dramatic union of contrasts," Manukyan's paintings explore human connection, feminine strength, and humanity's relationship with the natural world.
