Anne Millot Art

French, b. 1960
Born in 1960 in Lille, France, Anne Millot is a self-taught artist. After attending evening classes to satisfy her need for creation while she lived in Paris and later Brittany, she decides in 2010 to truly dedicate herself to art and settles in Paris. She then opens her Parisian workshop and takes training courses in ceramics and enamel techniques. At first she sculpts faces, however she gradually takes an interest in the nose and all of its dimensions, such as its sexual symbolism, its olfactory utility or the character and expressions it conveys. Focusing on the nose as the centre of her work, Anne Millot isolates it from the rest of the face in order to show it exclusively. She draws her inspiration from a variety of subjects, from cinema stars to mythological creatures as well as perfumers (also known as « noses »). Anne Millot makes every sculpture - earthenware, stoneware and porcelain - in her workshop where she also creates her own enamels. Thanks to a technical and detailed association of forms, brightness and colors, she conveys a precise and humoristic retranscription of the harmony and personality of the noses she draws her inspiration from.

Anne Andersson Sisal fiber wall sculpture Lion's Head (# 13) Hand signed to verso Dated 2009. Measures approx. 22 1/2" height x 14 1/2" width x 10" depth Her sculptures are made of natural sisal Fiber from an agave and meticulously hand painted. The eyes are hand blown glass. Anne Andersson was born in Gothenburg, Sweden, with a great desire to explore Nature and a Passion for Art. She received a degree in science in 1981 from Kjällbergska University in Gothenburg and a degree in Art from the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale. She now works from her studio in St. Petersburg, Florida as a Sculptor, illustrator and painter. Her work calls to mind the animalia artworks of Henri Maik and Gustavo Novoa. Anne Andersson's artwork serves as an homage to our planet’s charismatic and rare wild animals. Inspired by the majesty and beauty of exotic wildlife, and motivated by an urge to preserve them, Anne’s astonishingly realistic life-size sculptures capture the experience of seeing these animals up close without exploiting them. Her sculpted work using natural materials and clay, provides a humane alternative to big game trophy hunting and taxidermy. She combines her talents in painting, tapestry weaving and illustration with an intuitive attention to the smallest detail to truly bring her sculptures to life. She has created lions, tigers, leopards, jaguars, cheetahs, bobcats, lynxes, pumas, elephants, rhinos, bears, water buffalo, bison, moose, wolves, coyotes and more—but she feels closest to the big cats. Anne graduated with honors at the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale in 1989. It was then that she met Don Moore...

Art Deco Sprinter (Track Runner) Wood Sculpture Canadian Artist

Located in Wilton Manors, FL

Frances Norma Loring (October 14, 1887– February 5, 1968) Track Runner, ca. 1920's. Carved wood with small nail embellishments representing treads on left foot. Original wood stain. Very minor areas of wear evident in detail photos. Signed by artist with initials carved on side of base. Biography Loring was born in Wardner, Idaho, on October 14, 1887 to mining engineer Frank Curtis Loring (1859–1938) and Charlotte Moore. She studied at multiple schools including the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Switzerland, the Academie Colarossi in Paris, the Art Institute of Chicago, the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts in Boston, and at the Art Students League of New York. At the Art Institute of Chicago Loring met Florence Wyle with whom she was to have a lifelong partnership. In 1909, Loring moved to New York City and was soon joined by Wyle. The first of the three studio homes they would share over their lives was located on MacDougal Alley, a lively artist colony in the heart of Greenwich Village. Living at no. 6, a converted stable with additional living space, they sculpted well-known portrait busts of each other. In 1913, Loring and Wyle moved to Toronto, where they began being referred to as "The Girls." As curators observe, such an appelation is one of "pre-sexual, adolescent identity", suitable to the ultraconservative Toronto of the day. It had overtones of homosexuality. Both of them quickly became major forces in the city and across the country, getting major commissions during World War I and II. In Toronto they rented a studio-home that occupied the top-floor above a carpenters shop at the corner of Church and Lombard Street called Hunters Inn. Eight years later, in 1920, Frances (aged 33) and Florence (aged 39) bought "The Church" at 110 Glenrose Avenue in the Moore Park neighborhood. The Loring-Wyle Parkette, located a block north of "The Church," at the northeast corner of Mount Pleasant Road and St. Clair Avenue East, is now home to their sculpture busts of each other. In 1928, Loring and Wyle were founding members of the Sculptors' Society of Canada with Alfred Laliberté, Elizabeth Wyn Wood, Wood's teacher and husband Emanuel Hahn and Henri Hébert...
