American, 1874-1954

Arthur Johnson was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1874 of German heritage on his mother's side. Johnson was a landscape, portrait, genre painter and caricaturist. His father was Charles F. Johnson, owner and editor of the German-American newspaper in Cincinnati and US Consul to Hamburg, Germany under President Harrison.
