"Arcadian Scene with Lute, Lyre & Guitar, " Detailed Art Deco Drawing by Ulreich

About the Item

Drawn by one of the great muralists for Radio City Music Hall -- Eduard Buk Ulreich -- this beautifully detailed Art Deco scene shows a caped nude figure at its center, flanked by gods and goddesses playing instruments, with other figures seated in a garden below, accompanied by a deer. The Arcadian scene is full of lovely detail -- trees and flowers across the scene, an arched and towered building in the distance, and a checkerboard floor beneath the central figure. The artist is known for his murals in New York, Tallahassee and for the 1933 Century of Progress exposition in Chicago. This drawing is also reminiscent of his highly-detailed drawings and paintings for RCA Victor, which used his artwork for album covers and magazine advertisements. The drawing is in pencil and ink on paper; the artwork itself is 6 inches high by 4.5 inches wide.
