Branco Paradis Croatian American oil painter, was born in Zagreb, Croatia, in 1942, during WW2. Childhood had to coexist along fierce hunger and rule of Communism. By age eleven, or so, Paradis had already begun making his pictures.He discovered he was able to trade his portion of food for colors and pencils and get on with making his pictures. He was a autodidact, self taught artist and never studied art, and was never introduced to historical precepts of modern art.
