This delightful pair of seated pug dog figures was made around 1900 at the Bridgeness Pottery in Bo’ness, Scotland. Crafted in glazed earthenware, the figures feature glass eyes, gilt collars, curled tails, and a softly shaded brown-grey finish, following the traditional Staffordshire-type mantel dog style.
The pugs are modelled with characterful faces, strong detailing, and lifelike postures, capturing the charm and playful personality of the breed. Each figure is mounted on a shaped base, designed for stable display on a mantel or shelf.
The pair is in good overall condition, with minor wear consistent with age, and one figure has small chips along the base edges. Their matching design makes them a harmonious set, perfect for collectors of Scottish ceramics...
