Brian Rounds is an award-winning artist who grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and is now based out of Santa Cruz, California. Since earning a BA in Painting from UC Santa Cruz, he has focused on a continued commitment to plein air painting in oils but also enjoys working in watercolor and various drawing media. He has been nominated twice for the Rydell Grant.

Grey-purple clouds have rolled in over Santa Cruz around sunset, casting shadows and creating highlights in the city. Streaks of light shine through the clouds, and there is a yellow glow at the edge of the water in the distance. This piece is completed in a loose, abstracted style that captures the rapidly changing scenery. Signed and dated by the artist on verso. Unframed, but the artist has painted the edges black to allow for a frame-less display. Canvas size: 24"H x 30"W Acquired directly from the artist.
