A stunning, fine and impressive antique 6.20 carat garnet, pearl and hot white enamel, 18 karat yellow gold pendant / brooch with a 9k yellow gold chain; part of our diverse antique jewelry and estate jewelry collections This stunning, fine and impressive antique pendant has been crafted in 18k yellow gold. The impressive navette-shaped antique pendant is embellished with a stunning feature oval cabochon cut garnet to the centre, surmounted with an impressive yellow gold stellate setting incorporating a single claw set seed pearl to the centre. The elevated feature stone is encompassed with an impressive band of white hot enamel, accented with yellow gold scrolling leaf designs and encompassed with a scalloped shaped border. This stunning horizontal navette setting is further ornamented with bands of rope twist decoration paralleling the central sunken portion and the outer rim; these borders flank graduating curvilinear bead arrays to the cardinal points. This feature setting supports an articulated vertical navette-shaped drop, bearing identical aforementioned ornamentation. The detachable pendant drop features an impressive articulated tassel design to the lower border, completing the design. This stunning pendant is suspended from an associated 9k yellow gold belcher chain from a similar period. The chain catch is hallmarked with the fineness mark for 9k yellow gold. About vitreuos enamel: The inimitably luminous colours are literally created "in the fire": layer by layer, enamel is carefully fired in at 800 degrees Celsius. During guilloching, the finest wave patterns are engraved into the gold, creating a unique depth effect. Vitreous means made of glass: the ancient technique is almost forgotten today and Victor Mayer is perhaps the last manufactory to master it at the highest level. About guilloché: Guilloché refers to a class of enamel with abstract geometric patterns cut into the surface of precious metals and showing clearly through the overlying glaze. The manner in which the design is engraved into the metal increases the luminous quality and play of colors in the translucent glaze when the object is rotated to catch the light. About peridot: Peridot, sometimes called chrysolite, is a deep yellowish-green transparent variety of olivine. Peridot is one of the few gemstones that occurs in only one color. Peridot can be found in mafic and ultramafic rocks occurring in lava and peridotite xenoliths of the mantle.
