The impressive navette-shaped antique pendant is embellished with a stunning feature oval cabochon cut garnet to the centre, surmounted with an impressive yellow gold stellate setting incorporating a single claw set seed pearl to the centre. The elevated feature stone is encompassed with an impressive band of white hot enamel, accented with yellow gold scrolling leaf designs and encompassed with a scalloped shaped border. This stunning horizontal navette setting is further ornamented with bands of rope twist decoration paralleling the central sunken portion and the outer rim; these borders flank graduating curvilinear bead arrays to the cardinal points. This feature setting supports an articulated vertical navette-shaped drop, bearing identical aforementioned ornamentation. The detachable pendant drop features an impressive articulated tassel design to the lower border, completing the design. This stunning pendant is suspended from an associated 9k yellow gold belcher chain from a similar period. The chain catch is hallmarked with the fineness mark for 9k yellow gold. This stunning antique pendant can also be worn as a brooch via a hinged pin and clasp fastening to the reverse of the apex setting. This Victorian-era Etruscan Revival locket, circa 1870’s-1880’s, opens to reveal the daguerreotype of a young man. Across from it is a blank frame where an additional photo can still be added. The daguerreotype is hand-colored—the man has rosy cheeks and there is a slight blue tinge to the background. The front of the locket features ornate twisted-wire motifs and granulation, typical to the Etruscan Revival period, and there are seed pearls on the front emblem. The original bail can clip onto a larger chain, or a smaller chain can be slid through, so the locket can be styled in multiple ways. Etruscan Revival jewelry has a rich and interesting history. This Locket Pendant is a magnificent piece of Austro-Hungarian Garnet, Turquoise and Amethyst jewelry. It is in the Renaissance Revival style and dates to circa 1870. The gems are all set in silver gilt as was the custom of the Austro-Hungarian jewels. In the center is a gorgeous Bohemian Garnet cabochon. The garnet is 9mm by 7mm.
