Caroline Veith Art

French, b. 1958
The painter-engraver Caroline Veith was born in Le Havre in 1958. In 1982, she received her diploma at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Appliqués et des Métiers d’Art (ENSAAMA). Caroline Veith’s work takes us to the heart of a ‘mechanical universe’, inhabited by busy beings, caught in the excitement of an unpredictable world. In this urban jungle, each being is taking part in a mad race, absurd or amusing. Provided that each can exist, if possible, alone or colliding with the others? Everything is floating on the labyrinthine designs in which the artist attempts to untangle the thread of existence, armed with a thick coat of layers. It is a battle between the Great Order and the Small Disorder. Who will win? THE IMMENSE MARQUETRY OF REALITY (EXTRACT) Today, Caroline Veith has developed a genuinely unusual manner of bringing together various aspects of the world. Certain paintings, mostly in small size, portray the interactions between two or three people, and larger ones portray larger groups of people. In both cases, each person is close to the other while living in a lonely world. It is as if you are looking through the paper into the scene. The use of tracing paper lets the light reveal new layers that otherwise would have stayed invisible. The power of the paper is in its resistance of everything, from the passing of time to the sudden and violent human gestures. One can and one must scratch, dig, bend, twist and unfold the paper, and one must do all this in order to finally liberate the breath of life it holds in custody. The paper is the garment of dreams. The new method of working on tracing paper gives the works a limitless scale. Most often, there is no colour, but a network of thick, varied lines in different inks, expressing diverse functions: to form a face, indicate direction, grow a flower, carve a hand, cover a memory, draw a fragment of a map, extract a detail of a memory, drown another in darkness, raise an articulated arm, constrain a force to stay still, saturate the space, hand a weapon at the end of all hope, open a road, move a mountain, bury the pain. Through the game of ‘invisible’ surfaces on which the various elements that compose the work live, Caroline Veith makes her line the vector of trouble. This gives her creation a magical power. "Untitled" Colorful Abstract Butterfly Painting Acrylic on Stonehenge Paper
By Ash Almonte
Located in New York, NY
The Butterfly series for Ash began as a sentiment to her late Father. Butterflies began to appear in unexplainable ways after his passing, the artist later discovered that Butterflies represent spiritual rebirth, transformation, change, hope, and life - she goes on to say: "The butterfly series draws inspiration from Rivera's quote 'Butterflies can't see their wings. They can't see how truly beautiful they are, but everyone else can.'" After coming to the fruition that Butterflies pose as not only a symbol for beauty and rebirth, Almonte felt a feeling of deep comfort. Her passion for sharing this message of hope and renewal through her colorfully diverse canvases is achieved with resilience leaving her audience glimmering much like the inner voice and the spark of Joie de vivre that fuels her purpose in life to create. This piece is painted with acrylic and mixed media on heavyweight stonehenge paper, and is signed by the artist lower right. Art measures 30 x 22 inches Inspired by vibrance and an optimistic outlook on life, Ash Almonte is recognized for her distinct abstract expressionistic style. She is best known for her series of Chandeliers, Butterflies, and Fashion from the Seventh Avenue Design District. Almonte's award-winning works can be found in private and permanent collections around the world. She is motivated by change, compassion for others, and miraculous phenomena that can impact others for good. Her flair and admiration for fashion and art have been a staple of her life since childhood. As a young girl, she would experiment using anything she could find to make art; from tearing apart bushel baskets at her father’s fruit stand, to tearing out old magazine clippings from her mother's magazine collection; anything and everything around her could potentially be used to create. She would continue to seek out opportunities throughout her young adult years, as her love for fashion grew, allowing her to collaborate with celebrity stylists creating looks for top billboard artists, as well as apparel worn at New York Fashion Week for designers Sherri Hill...

Julia Adams comments: I use a variety of mixed media to produce my work – household glosses, spray paints, acrylics, inks and various printing techniques, rarely using a paintbrush! I like to apply paint with real freedom and spontaneity to produce paintings that have energy and depth, exploring my passion for surface quality, colour, texture and tactility.” “My series of ‘Interior Spaces’ paintings have been very popular and are constantly evolving. As a starting point I use a found image or one of my own photographs, adding or removing elements as I feel necessary to enhance the composition. I then start to play with my materials, constantly adding and subtracting. I will often include abstract stencilling to add a sense of drama, and introduce rivets to add further interest. I also enjoy including text, whether stencilled or found words in magazines. Size: H:30 cm x W:30 cm Bon Appetit...
