A profound appreciation for life and devout faith in God are immediately discernible in painter Dennis K. Smith’s landscapes, portraits and other works.
Smith, who was born in 1949 in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, is known for his expressive brushstrokes and ability to find inspiration for paintings even in the most humble scenes. He works to capture the emotional depth of a subject through painting with the hope of inviting interest that might not have existed before.
“I cannot remember the 1,053rd leaf of the tree, but I will remember the coolness of its shade on that hot summer day,” Smith has said of his work. His distinctive rhythmic brushstrokes, vivid color palettes and visual storytelling furthers that intensity and speaks to his love of music. In The Weary Blues (2013), a melancholy scene from a dimly lit jazz bar comes alive in wonderful detail. Smith also tells these stories through drawing, printmaking, sculpture and playwriting. Apart from his individual practice, Smith is also an active member of the community. He is a full-time art teacher at his LaSalle studio and cofounder and president of The Artists of Colour, a collective of Black artists in the Canadian diaspora. Their exhibition “Journeys” at the Amherstburg Freedom Museum in 2020 explored the Underground Railroad from a Canadian perspective.
Smith dedicated his decades-long career to the pursuit of beauty and honesty. He has exhibited in numerous shows including the Canada–Japan Exchange Print Exhibition held at the Chiba Shimin Gallery in Japan.

Aradhana-78, Figurative, Acrylic on Canvas, Contemporary Indian Artist-In Stock
By Anil Kumar Yadav
Located in Kolkata, West Bengal
Anil Kumar Yadav - Aradhana-78 Acrylic on Canvas 36 x 48 inches, 2024 ( Rolled & Delivered ) STYLE : Anil Kumar Yadav is an Artist from Kolkata who was born in 1984 a village in Uttar Pradesh. He grew up among villagers with modest lives and the village culture. The Rangolis at the village festival and the local potters’ fine works of art inspired him greatly towards art as a hobby and potential career from early childhood. His father was then posted to Kolkata so their family relocated to the city. Once the capital of India, with its rich cultural heritage and character immediately caught my attention. He started painting for the first time in the city. Since the central theme to his paintings is related to present day society, his works appear photographic or naturalistic. The religious ghats of Varanasi, Haridwar and other antique places attracted him for their cultural heritage characterised by the holy saints, antique architectures, old idol sculptures and mysticism, spirituality. So he portrayed the simplicity of the architectural doors, temples, sculptures and the beautiful narrow streets and ‘galis’ which holds beauty that can not be described in words. He always prefers a highly realistic approach in his paintings for whatever he sees in his surroundings. He started to represent paintings in a form whose expression manifests a step ahead of photography. He has always tried to reach to a horizon where photography cannot reach and make a statement what is called hyperrealism. Sudhanshu Sutar - Untitled - 36 x 48 inches (unframed size) Acrylic on Canvas Inclusive of shipment in roll form. Style : Sudhanshu Sutar evokes imagery replete with nostalgia that he transforms effectively with his masterly hold over technique into a surrealistic leap into the future. Sudhansu is from the eastern Indian state of Orissa. In the words of eminent poet Kathleen Laine “The ‘real’ Orissa is what the imagination has created in her heritage of music, painting, architecture, poetry, all the crafts and arts together with her incomparable continuity in thought, and expression.” Whether it is Buddhism, Sculpture (The Sun Temple at Konark) or Odissi dance, Orissa has an impressionable image in Indian psyche and its history. Struggling to find gallery representation at the time, he made ends meet in the capital by painting large format billboards surrounding Delhi’s most expansive exhibition space at Pragati Maidan. He continued to do a variety of odd jobs and endured as an artist; finding some recognition through a gallery in Japan that helped him sustain a modest living in the capital for the last decade. His new work is representational of his roots from Orissa and the time he spent in Delhi. A marvelous combination of his rural psychological imagery and his complex survival in the big city reveals some visually salient images. About the Artist & his works : Born : 1969 in Orissa. Education : He graduated in Fine Arts from Utkal University, Orissa, 1993. Solo Exhibitions : 2012 : Art Heritage, Triveni Kala Sangam, New Delhi 2007 : Art Musings, Mumbai 2006 : ‘We want Your Life’, Gallery Alternatives, Gurgaon, Haryana 1999 : 'Fact Beyond Fact' exhibition at Lalit Kala Academy, New Delhi 1996 : Sizoka Art Gallery, Japan 1991 : Pune University, Pune, Maharashtra Group Exhibitions : 2012 : ‘Angkor Wat : An Indian Perspective’, Gallery Art & Soul, Mumbai 2011 : ‘The Lost Sparrow’, presented by Gallery Threshold at Visual Art Gallery, India Habitat Centre, New Delhi & Gallery Sumukha, Chennai 2010 : ‘Indian (Sub) Way’, Vadehra Art Gallery, New Delhi ; Grosvenor Vadehra, London ; 1 x 1 Art Gallery, Dubai ; 'Next...', Amelia Johnson Contemporary, Hong Kong & 'Who Has Seen Gandhi?', presented by Tangerine Art...
