Duane Bousfield was born in the USA, in 1960, and was a fifth-generation Californian living in New York City since 1995. In 2001, Duane accepted the directorship of Wally Findlay Gallery in East Hampton, New York, and continued working with the gallery on 57th Street, NYC, for more than five years. Wanting to work with more contemporary art, Duane accepted a position as Senior Art Consultant at Franklin Bowles Gallery, in SoHo, New York, where he continues to help people build art collections for their homes and estates. During the years of art consulting, Duane has continued making his art and exploring the relationship of meaning and abstraction.

Duane Bousfield is a fifth-generation Californian living in New York City since 1995. Frederick Conway (1900-1973) was a painter, educator, and lecturer. From 1929 to 1970, Conway was a member of the faculty of the Washington University Art School. When Max Beckmann was in residence at Washington University, he and Conway became close associates. Conway was one of the first to realize the importance and seriousness of Beckmann's teaching.
