"PRLS-1000" is part of Eric Mack's urban grid series. Using a grid to create the framework of the painting, Mack creates movement across the piece with dynamic techniques of washy underpainting underneath matted pieces of paper, and thread. Contemporary mixed media, acrylic and tissue paper on canvas by French artist, Georges Fernandes. Monogram signed to the bottom right and signed and dated 2000 to the reverse. Presented in plain wood frame with gold filet. A bold and colourful abstract in blue and gold. Tendrils of blue radiate from a central sphere and work their way across the rich gold textured background. The colour combination gives a richness to the painting, the gold background emphasising the blue of the tendrils. This collage fits perfectly into the abstract genre with its focus on its formal qualities over and above its subject matter. Colourful, French mixed media abstract, acrylic, newsprint and ink from the 1980s. The canvas is signed and dated bottom right but we have not yet managed to decipher it. A colourful and engaging painting crossing over styles. The colourfield elements are reminiscent of the work of Mark Rothko, three defined bands of colour in orange/pink tones vertically dissecting the painting with one horizontal band across the top, and yet the elongated depiction of the female figures within the bands remind us of Gustav Klimt and his paintings of Adele. Jacqueline Dee Parker’s collages are interdisciplinary in approach and concept. Her materials include antique literature and music books and other ephemera. Just as words, sounds, and images rooted in memory may trigger the composition of a poem, collage is a mode of perception that prompts integration of different sorts of accumulated language. Fragments of lived experience are the bricks and mortar the artist uses to build new spaces informed by time’s passage. Early life in the home of an architect and a violinist shaped Jacqueline Dee Parker’s aesthetic. Exposure to the art of architecture encouraged interest in spatial relationships, taught her to read elevations and visualize their 3-D intentions, and, at construction sites, to appreciate the evolution of concept to form. Music played through and where words ended, roused layers of emotional response, and altered the sense of place and time. Together, these ingredients fostered an affinity for abstraction and design.
