Emile Chambon Art

Swiss, 1905-1993
Emile Chambon (Emile François Chambon), born January 10, 1905 in Geneva, Switzerland, and died October 28, 1993 in Collonge-Bellerive, Switzerland, was a painter and draftsman from Geneva. He is the son of Emile-Joseph Chambon and Joséphine née Coppier. Three years after Emile, his mother gave birth to a daughter, Julia Mathilde Chambon, who, throughout her life, would assist Emile. In the fall of 1921, he entered the École des Beaux-Arts in Geneva, not without difficulty because the school management considered that his family was not well off enough to allow him to embrace a career as an artist. A first federal scholarship was awarded to him in 1921 and allowed him to stay in Paris where he went with his father. This trip allows him to familiarize himself with the cubist painters. Between 1925 and 1928, he worked with the painter Jean-Louis Gampert, friend of Roger de La Fresnaye; he assists him in his studio, but also for the realization of the decorations of the church of Corsier (Geneva, Switzerland). In 1928 a second federal scholarship was awarded to him, which allowed the young man from Carouge to make a second stay in Paris; he stayed there for about ten weeks, then set off to explore the Louvre Museum where he made numerous copies. But his stay ends more quickly than he had expected, his finances being at their worst; he then leaves behind his friends Chauvet and Van Berchem, with whom he had left, and returns to Geneva. In February 1931, in the continuity of " Raison d'être ", the creation of the " Presence " movement, which wants to be a " action, art and philosophy group " ; Chambon contributed to the review published by the group then directed by Trolliet and Jean Descoullayes. Within the framework of the review, always, it approaches a little more Ferrare which will introduce it near the man of letters Max Jacob in Paris. Ferrare supports Chambon with conviction and is among his first unconditional admirers. The end of the 1930s marks a remarkable progression in the production of paintings by Emile Chambon, the latter going almost to double it compared to the beginning of the decade, and this rate will not run out of steam before the end of the 1960s. .......

Realist oil painting by Moses Soyer. The artist was often quoted as saying, "My message is people." He was always looking to find who the person within was. Soyer and his brothers Raphael and Isaac were all successful artists. Moses Soyer began his art studies at the Cooper Union and National Academy of Design, the Education Alliance, and eventually moved to the Ferrer Art School in Harlem to study with teachers who promoted the Ashcan style of painting. This style promoted unglamorized representations of everyday life and a focus on social realism. When many artists shifted to abstract expressionism Soyer...

Seated Female Nude Oil Painting – Spanish Figurative Expressionist 20th Century

Located in Sitges, Barcelona

Artist: Francisco Abad Doblas (Spain, b. 1933) Title: Seated Female Nude Date: 1975 Medium: Oil on canvas Dimensions: 65 × 81 cm (25.6 × 31.9 in) Signature: Signed upper right Framing: Unframed Condition: Very good. Firm canvas and stable paint layer with visible impasto. No apparent restorations. Period: 20th Century A striking seated female nude executed in oil on canvas by Spanish painter Francisco Abad Doblas. This powerful figurative composition presents a seated woman rendered with confident, textured brushwork and a vibrant chromatic palette. Flesh tones are constructed through layered strokes of pinks, ochres, greens and blues, creating both movement and depth. The cool-toned background enhances the warmth of the figure, reinforcing anatomical structure and spatial contrast. The painting reflects the Spanish post-impressionist figurative tradition of the mid-to-late 20th century, combining academic discipline with expressive painterly freedom. Particular attention is given to the modeling of the face and hands, demonstrating strong draftsmanship and studio practice. With its balanced 65 × 81 cm format and strong visual presence, the work functions as a statement piece within a refined contemporary interior or a collection focused on European figurative art. Francisco Abad Doblas (Spain, born 1933) is a Spanish figurative painter active during the second half of the 20th century. His work focuses on traditional genres such as landscape, still life and the human figure, developed through direct observation and a loose post-impressionist brushstroke. His paintings circulated through Spanish private galleries during the 1970s and 1980s and continue to appear in European secondary market sales, appreciated by collectors of academic and figurative Spanish art.
