Eytan Brandes designed this ring using various elements he likes from Edwardian engagement rings, such as the carinated band, the coin-edged pavé setting plates, and the elevated, almost puffy face. But while a ring like this would traditionally be set with diamonds, Eytan gave it a more striking, contemporary look by setting it entirely in sapphires. The center prong-set sapphire is a nearly round oval. To maximize both its color and its sparkle, a mixed cut has been used (i.e., the crown is brilliant cut, while the pavilion is a step cut).
