FEROS Prints and Multiples

Ukrainian, b. 1992
FEROS (Serhii Hrekh, b. 1992) is a contemporary Ukrainian artist whose visual language bridges the raw energy of street art with the philosophical depth of surrealist painting. Born and based in Lviv, Ukraine — a city rich in architectural and artistic history — Feros began his career as a graffiti artist, transforming public spaces with bold, expressive murals that wove personal memory with social commentary. His early street work established his distinctive use of color, form, and symbolism, quickly gaining him recognition in Ukraine and abroad. Over time, Feros transitioned from large-scale public murals to canvas-based works that delve deeper into abstraction and figurative surrealism. His current paintings are layered, psychologically charged dreamscapes. Blending elements of mythology, memory, architecture, and the subconscious, Feros constructs alternate realities that challenge viewers to reconsider the familiar. His compositions are often marked by distorted bodies, symbolic objects, and luminous, otherworldly palettes. While traces of his graffiti roots remain in his bold linework and compositional rhythm, his evolving technique reveals a sophisticated command of color and emotion. Feros’s work is deeply autobiographical yet universally resonant. Each canvas explores themes of transformation, longing, dislocation, and imagination — often shaped by his lived experiences in contemporary Ukraine. Whether portraying a surreal figure atop a white horse or abstracted fragments of urban chaos, Feros invites the viewer into a layered visual narrative that blends personal reflection with broader cultural questions. He has presented solo exhibitions including Conspiracy Theories at Snisarenko Gallery (Online) and Dzyga Art Space, Lviv (2024); Escape from Reality at Snisarenko Gallery, West Hollywood (2023); and participated in LA Art Show (2025) and Volta Art Fair New York (2024) with Snisarenko Gallery. His group exhibitions include The Same Words at Lavra Gallery, Kyiv (2023); Passage Through Darkness at Lucreate, Lublin (2023); and Stronger Than Arms at BSMT Gallery, London (2022). Earlier shows include Crossroads of Consciousness at Intelias Art Point, Lviv; Something Inside at Unmute Gallery, Budapest; and UK/raine at the Saatchi Gallery, London. Feros’s work is held in private and institutional collections across Europe and the U.S. He continues to live and work in Lviv, where he is actively contributing to the evolution of Ukraine’s contemporary art scene through a voice that is both deeply personal and globally resonant.

By Peter Milton

Contemporary artist Peter Milton created this etching and engraving entitled "Interiors VI: Soundings" in 1989. The printed image size is 29 7/8 x 23 13/16 and paper size is 36 x 29 inches. This impression is signed, dated, and titled in pencil and inscribed “93/175” – the 93 impression of 175. “I do love to draw. I feel that I am being granted membership in the Brotherhood of Merlin, conjuring forth some apparition. As a drawing develops, I sense a vague presence coming more and more into focus, something in a white fog emerging and becoming increasingly palpable.” – P. Milton, “The primacy of touch. The Drawings of Peter Milton” “Working in layers, Milton begins with drawings based on people and places, with nods to Western art history and culture. He is a master of the appropriated image, a term that may conjure Andy Warhol and his Pop Art comrades. But Milton steps further back in history, avoiding the Pop sense of cool advertising and popular culture references. Instead, a broader cultural past is tapped through historical photographs of key players, architecture, and locales, which he reinvents by hand. He adds content drawn from his life as an avid reader – always with multiple possible interpretations – thus incorporating deeper meaning in his cinematic worlds. Elements of Greek mythology, classical music, art history, and history coalesce in his images, which embrace the messiness, sorrow, and elation that is life. One is hard-pressed to imagine a more erudite, skilled, passionate, and cheeky soul." – T. L. Johnson and A. Shafer Peter Milton was born in Pennsylvania in 1930. He studied for two years at the Virginia Military Institute...
