Rare pair of taper candle holders feature classic Mid Century Modern lines with combination of lightly textured ceramic surfaces and high gloss glaze providing additional visual interest to the monochromatic pieces. Both bobeche and the tray are decorated with a simple graphic relief band. Soft, warm hues of the gloss complement the elegant shape of thepieces. The candle holders were designed in 1951 by Mary Grant as a part of Franciscan Wheat Harvest Brown line; the line was in production for a relatively short time from 1951 to 1954. The candle holders are marked on the bottom with "Made in USA"; they are in very good vintage condition. The Gladding, McBean & Company, one of the biggest potteries in Southern California, was founded in 1875 in Lincoln, California.
