George Nemethy Paintings

American, b. 1952
Born in 1952 in Newburgh, New York, George Nemethy finds his inspiration in moments of quiet and solitude. Where he finds himself, with his imagination, sailing away to this beautiful and colorful marine worlds. That could only be visited when the soul meets with the infinite feeling of the horizon line of the open seas. With an outstanding legacy of his father Albert Nemethy of marine art, George keeps this tradition in his own artistic way. Recreating this wonderful marine depictions in a much more abstract and whimsical way. His dedication to master a magical realism instantly takes the viewer, in each of his unique paintings, and transports to a point in time where all the senses meet and only one thought would exist. George’s peaceful "dream like qualities" miniature works allow us to take a deep breath and reach out to the beautiful vastness of the world in an unprecedented a magical relationship between man and nature. The Nemethy family immigrated from Hungary and consisted of six artists, all pupils of their late father Albert Sz. Nemethy. The children Julien, Albert Jr., George, Veronica, and the twins Kristina and Georgina. All of them were taught and inspired by their respected father, an American traditional and well groomed marine painter of high regard. George, as a pupil of his late father, became an artist through his inspiration and teachings. George is known for his pastoral miniature sail boat oil paintings. As a 20th century artist he was greatly inspired when he was young by Persian miniatures. Out of this fondness and extensive studying of these models, a devotion to intimacy and solitude was born. Devoting extreme patience to detail, achieving mastery to each and every work with his use of color and size. Creating pastel hues across the waters with shimmering highlights, and puffed clouds pulling down to the sea, there is a magic being created. In his pieces we can find all the qualities that so many are in love with, and the reason why his paintings are sought after by elite collectors, sailors, and curators. His dreamy puffed clouds that are so effortlessly contrasted with the majestic blues in his sky and water, piece together this absolutely breath taking works. What creates an even more shocking and delightful surprise is, in almost every sailboat painting, if you look closely enough you will find tiny people depicted in the sail boat. In this piece you will find two people sitting about. His extreme attention to detail, and his fixation on miniatures when he was a child is what establishes such a wonderful enchantment to every single one of his masterful sailboat paintings. When critics refer to his work, they write on his sincere ability to achieve pure tranquillity in his paintings.

"Dancer's Dream" Large Original Oil Painting by Robert White, Frameless Display

Located in Encino, CA

“Dancer's Dream,” an original oil on canvas by Robert K. White, is a piece for the true collector. White’s careful attention to detail and vivid use of greens, browns, and whites project from the painting, immediately capturing the viewer's attention and highlighting the artist's keen ability to capture emotion and life - all in a brushstroke. White's talent for depicting light and shadow provides the foundation for him to deliver subjects and scenes to the viewer's eye. This masterful work would make a great addition to an art collection and enhance most any home, perfect for those who have an affinity for dancers, the ballet, portraits, and color-rich works of art. In the artist’s own words, “I don’t paint what is inside of me; I paint what I see outside of me. I’m an observer. If I see something and I feel an affinity for it, something just clicks in my head. I’ll make the decision right then and there to paint that particular subject during that particular moment. It’s a perfect moment. Once something has caught my eye and I’ve heard the “perfect” click, it’s like a photograph has been taken in my mind’s eye. I only have a few days of clarity with that image. I have to start the painting quickly or else it will be gone and I will lose that image forever.” Artist: ROBERT KENNETH WHITE...

“Kennebec” Ship Portrait Sidewheeler Steamboat Paddle Steamer Oil on Canvas

Located in Yardley, PA

A striking and historically attentive portrait of the sidewheel steamer Kennebec, built in 1842. Rendered in crisp profile against a soft, painterly sky and calm Atlantic swells, Cameron’s portrait captures the stately elegance of early American steam navigation. The Kennebec, identified in bold red lettering on her paddle box, is shown under partial sail with twin smokestacks active - suggesting both the hybrid nature of early steam propulsion and the vessel’s readiness for sea. Flying period flags, including a U.S. ensign and company pennants, she presents as a proud representative of the Sanford Steamship Line, for whom she plied the route between Boston, Bangor, and the summer resorts of Maine. Her design, with a wood hull, 230-foot length, and distinctive “hogging truss,” speaks to mid-19th century innovation tailored to coastwise packets. Cameron’s style is reminiscent of 19th-century ship portraiture yet refined with contemporary technical precision. This is an excellent example of his work. This work is oil on canvas and is signed in the lower right. It is housed in its original black frame and retains the artist’s description of the ship on the reverse. Size: 22 inches tall by 44 inches wide (painting) 26 inches tall by 48 inches wide by 1 inch deep (frame) Provenance: Private collection; Acquired from the above About the artist: A Delaware artist, Scott Cameron paints the simple elegance of the America’s Cup races, serene coastal marsh scenes, timeless landscape vistas and historic steamboats in a style reminiscent of the era in which they reigned. An admirer of Andrew Wyeth and the Brandywine School of painters, Scott has combined the detail and quiet stillness of that School in his landscapes with the Luminist School’s sense of light glowing from within. A soft gentle atmosphere seems to fall over each scene adding to the peacefulness of the setting, and a sense of a time gone by. His America’s Cup scenes capture the action at a moment in time, allowing the beauty of the wind-filled sails to become the central design element of each painting. Scott Cameron has exhibited his oil paintings in numerous national and regional shows from the Mystic Seaport Museum to solo and group shows in some of the foremost galleries throughout the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic states. Favorite painting locations are the waterways and coastal inlets of Martha’s Vineyard and Maryland’s Eastern Shore and the gentle rolling landscapes of rural Pennsylvania, Delaware and Maryland. Meticulous research is behind every historic steamboat and America’s Cup painting...
